Big DB Pick-Up for The Express
Reading Express GM/Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has signed Trenton “Trent” Jones to play this season with The Express.
Trent is a 6’1 227lb defensive back who also can play line backer, full back, wide out. “You name it and he can play it” said Nowotarski. Last season Trent was with the Johnstown River Hawks.
Trent is another PSAC guy. He played his college football at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his High School football at Peabody. “It seems like the PSAC guys are finding the AIFA a nice place to continue their football careers and I couldn’t be happier about that” expressed Nowotarski.
“This is a player that I really wanted, I am glad to have him signed and I look forward to what Trent is going to bring to Reading. This is a good kid with a great work ethic and strong family values and that’s what I like.”
We will conduct one more open tryout on Saturday January 12, 2008 at our practice facility, Grand Slam Sports Complex. You can get all the details by going to our website at www.expressindoorfootball.com or call our office at 610-372-7277. We are still searching for local talent as well as talent from the surrounding areas.

WOW! There is going to be some major competition for the Wr and Db spots. They are signing alot of both positions and they are all very good talent.

I agree with that. We are really loaded with talent going into camp. I dont envy Bernie and the other coaches that have to make those tough decisions.......

With some of the receivers that I saw, I couldthrow to them and we would do just fine.

But who is gonna throw to them? Most likely John Port but its not in stone yet. And who are you guys to be talking. You have Dinkins as your qb? If he cant run he is uselss. That guy couldnt hit the side of a barn if he were 3 feet in front of it. I believe his record against the Express is 1-4. Now why would we worry about that........

d**n, I just wanted to know who the QB was, I didnt want to start WW3. Joe and i spoke on the phone the other day and he gave me his "power rankings" and he had Pittsburgh at #1 & Reading at #2. Upon further thought i started thinking how Dinkins is so ineffective against our team. In fact, we have had more success against him than any other qb in the league and with most of our defense returning i have no reason to believe any different. While i think Piottsburgh is gonna be tough i still think Dinkins has to prove consistency as well as our new qb has to prove that he can adapt to the game. In some ways i do agree with Joes assessment but in some i dont. Lets just kick the darn ball off already and settle it on the field.......

You got to look at the whole picture. With the exception of Lee Barlow, our line was pretty weak last year. Dinkins got pretty beat up especially against the better defenses becaus ethe line was not protecting him. Under the circumstances, I think he did pretty good. The last 2 times we played Reading we had a 37 year old center and a turnstile at the one guard. This years line will be a whole lot better.
