Wow! What a Season!
I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you to all the Fans and members of the Reading Express Organization. Although we did not win the Championship, Greg “Muggy” Justice, said it best when he returned to the hotel after the game where the team was greeted by a cheering mob of supporters that included fans and family, “We ARE Champions.” Our team brought home the Division and Conference Championship. Also, we had the honor of being led by Coach Kelly Logan, who was awarded the Coach of the Year by the AIFA in South Carolina during the awards banquet Thursday night.
This was my first season as the owner of Reading Express and my first experience in running a professional sports team and it was astounding. I am truly grateful to the fans. Winning the Northern Conference Championship was as much of a testament to our fans as it was to our players and coaches. The shear energy and support of the fans on June 16, 2007 when we battled Canton played as much as a part in our victory as our skill and agility on the field. It is like nothing that I have ever experienced.
As this season comes to an end, we are starting plans for next year which will prove to be the most exciting yet. Our organization is excited to get things rolling. Keep an eye on the website and keep track of Express in the off season. We will be around promoting the team and staying involved in our community.
Again, I can’t thank the Fans, the team, and staff enough for what I believe will only be the beginning of many spectacular seasons to come.
Very Truly Yours,
Ted K. Lavender, President
