Carmelo Ocasio caught four touchdown passes from Tom Stetzer Sunday night to rally the Reading Express past the Pittsburgh RiverRats 35-28 in its American Indoor Football Association season opener in Pittsburgh. The Express trailed the expansion RiverRats (0-2) 28-24 entering the fourth quarter. Erik Rockhold, who missed three extra points, kicked a 25-yard field goal with 11:17 left to pull the Express within a point.
After a defensive stop, Reading went ahead to stay with 5:40 left on a 2-yard TD run by Isaiah Grier, a defensive back who shared time at running back with Terrel Watkins. Stetzer passed to Ocasio for the two-point conversion.
Ocasio, a Reading High grad, had 14 receptions for 88 yards, including touchdowns catches of 1, 10, 1 and 7 yards.
Pittsburgh quarterback David Dinkins, who spoiled the Express' inaugural game last season as the quarterback for the Erie Freeze, completed just 9-of-22 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns.
The Express will play its home opener Sunday at 3 p.m. against the Erie Freeze.
