This may mean nothing, but if you scroll down in the article Erie is listed as one of the teams in the league. It's either bad reporting or something we don't yet know about. Wish I had the $43k available. That's an small amount to pay for a franchise. Someone should apply for ownership in Erie and just wait until DHs lease runs out at the end of the month and then step in with a new Erie team. Why saddle the new owner with DHs debt? Erie in 08!!!!!!!!!! thank you someone who finally sees whay i mean you guys that said 180k was the expansion fee pfft i bet prescott didnt have to pay their monthly dues upfront either most teams dont so you put 25k down for franchise and 1500/month thtas the other 18k. 2500 attendance * 12 avg tix * 7 home games is 210k. there's 2/3 of your annual budget right there sell another 100k in sponsorship prob not hard to do in a town the size of erie and your good 2 go. Dont forget to add in the salaries for the GM and head coach that you'll need to recruit the players way before the season starts. Add in paying for a practice facility and housing for the outta town players. Also, paying for a salesman to get all those sponsorships that your counting on to reduce some of the operating expenses. Of course there is also paying for your office rent and utils/phone/internet. Alot of the sponsorships are tradeoffs too. They arent all cash. If it were as easy as your stating we'd all own franchises.

I hear ya Gene, I probably should have stated that a little better. I realize that there would be those startup costs and running costs, also. Equipment, merchandise, arena rent, housing, travel expenses, etc. If I had the 43k, I'd probably have more than that in order to make it a successful operation. Thanks for pointing that out, Buddy! I owe you a grilled cheese for that!

I wonder what the Tullio's take is on the tickets. Last I knew for the Otters, the Tullio took 3% of tickets and they split concessions with the Otters. I heard that the Freeze get nothing from concessions. I want to say the take on tickets was a dollar per ticket. I'm not sure however if that went toward setup and tear down fees at the arena or not. We were told that the Freeze didn't get any concession money. But, the arena gets a percentage of the concessions. Then the Freeze inturn get a percentage of the percentage of the Civic Centers cut.

It's looking more and more like this will be an impossibility as half of the Freezes' former roster has signed with the Pittsburgh RiverRats. And several other former players are trying out with other teams. :smileyfreeze: IT'S OVER!!! The CIFL will announce it's schedule shortly and Erie WON'T be on it.

Definitely!!!!!
There was NO WAY that DH could get the $$$ to make it happen.
Even though he was basically saying that he was looking into the possibility of going there.
He's also got a bad rap around town with folks looking for the $$$ owed to them.
I would think he would have a VERY difficult time finding anyone willing to sign a contract to play for him too.
I think it's all for the better. The problems in Erie weren't going to go away. Getting the team out of the league was the right decision.
Hopefully with the right ownership, Erie will be able to make a go of it again sometime in the future!!!!!!!!

The Freeze website no longer exists. It looks like the organization is about to fade into oblivion.

Looks' Like It. Just tried to go to it on IE & FireFox and the site is no longer available. The Freeze & Chiller MySpace pages are still up. Both have last login dates of 11/13/2007. I wonder if DH shut it down or if it was shut down by EVivid(The website server)? I sent emails when they were online last week with NO response. I also have had active searches on ebay since the announcement to see if they decide to unload any merchandise/memorabilia. I didn't think they'd go to the CIFL. I check their website daily to see if anything is up. They still haven't released a schedule yet. When they do, it will put the final nail in the coffin. Obviously, the end IS near! The future IS 2009!!!
