The clock is ticking on the Freeze being able to join the CIFL for the 2008 season. Here's what the owner of the Lehigh Valley team posted on Friday:
"If anyone can reach Mr. Hodas, please have him contact me at LehighValleyOutlawz@comcast.net. If we can get something done for the CIFL, it must happen within one week. Same goes for Rockford and others...WE NEED 2008 SCHEDULES."
Unless something happens soon, there probably won't be indoor football in Erie next spring.

The problem i have with this is if the Freeze couldnt afford to operate in the AIFA how does the CIFL expect them to operate in their league? On top of that, if the Freeze do owe the AIFA money then how are they gonna pay both the CIFL & AIFA? They cant afford either one and its painfully obvious that they arent financially healthy now. Is the CIFL that desperate for teams? The only thing that will save this team is if a responsible, well funded owner(s) comes in and takes care of business. Otherwise, as mentioned before, i think this team will remain dark.

I can get ahold of D.H. But, I won't support that crappy league. I sure won't refer anyone to it. Secondly, I agree with Gene. If we can't afford "simple" stuff to be in the AIFA. Then I'm sure they won't be able to afford jumping to the CIFL. Besides that, if the jump happens. I'm positively sure there will be legal issues to come from it.

The reason that they want the Freeze in the CIFL is so they can fill in the large gap between Rochester, NY & Marion, OH. This was there objective in 2006 when we (Joe, D. Hodas, Christina & I) were invited to see the game between ironically, the Raiders & Mayhem.
After seeing and meeting with them, and being offered admittance into the GLIFL/CIFL for practically nothing.....
D. Hodas decided that this was not the league for us.
He decided to stick with AH and the AIFL.
What's funny now was the CIFL was hoping for both Canton & Erie to defect in 2006. They were/are also courting Canton & Erie for this season and I understand that Canton ALMOST went this year, but stayed under the assumption that Erie was also going to be here(AIFA) this year, too.
So Canton is now without it's best friend/ biggest rival.
And now D. Hodas is talking on the local news about how he's never gotten along with AIFA ownership. He and the owners are on the other side of the fence.
I'm willing to bet that the CIFL would do backflips to get Erie and practically let them in for almost nothing.
But I notice the similarities of this situation is VERY similar to what happened in Steubenville. And we all know how that has turned out.
It's a shame that we didn't know sooner about this with Eries' situation until last week, as we had been assured several times by the Freeze, as late as Oct. 4th that we were in and all that had to be done was getting some papers signed.
Joe has been scrambling to find interested parties to step in and save the Freeze and we have some interest but the clock is ticking, we've kindly been given a few days to get this done, so keep your fingers crossed!!!

This is a thread talking about the Freeze joining the CIFL (yeah right) not a "business thread". Anyways, CIFL will be out of their minds to let the Freeze in at their current state. Only league that will accept them is the NIFL.

Also, on a side note. A Freeze player and myself have been vigorously working on finding local ownership to buy Hodas out. We have a really short time to make this happen. I did run into someone that was interested(Banker, lawyer, and a dr.) on Friday. I passed along the info to Hodas. Hopefully this can get resolved soon.
Add AIFA team salesman to my list of duties.

i have one question; why buy him out? if the league has kicked hodas and the freeze out then i would think they have no aifa rights to the market only if the lease with tulio is still valid. it would prob be cheeper to start a fresh franchise with expansion fees than pay what hodas wants i bet. in other words have new owners start a new team if they can get a lease with tulio its better than taking on haods;s price and the teams baggage (debts)

It would be better to take over a proven name. Plus get all the equiptment. That would be less start up cost. I'm sure they wouldn't inherit any of the debts. If someone started anew. They would have to come up with a new name, buy helmets/pads, and merch.

umm if you buy the team from hodas i'm sure your paying premium for all the equipment and what tshirts are left. the only thing making it better is the name recognition but we know how much thats worth here in erei practically noone knows what the freeze are at least not enough to spend 100k+ for just a name.
uniforms and equipment 15k tops + another 5k for new tshirts and sweatshirts + the aifa fee, whatever that is but i bet it aint gonna add up to 100k.

oh and yeah they will inherit all the headaches and most vendors will not care if its a diff owner they will still have to deal with hodas's debts if there are any. ask new canton owner after andrew sold or the express owners after there bad owners in there first season if they had to clean up messes and debt from old owners.
start fresh and new AND NO GAY BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It costs atleast $180,000.00 just to buy a franchise. DH wants just under double that for the team, which he wont get. A move to the CIFL will put him in more debt unless the CIFL lets him in for free and doesnt charge him dues, which is unfair to the other teams. My guess here is that if Jim, from the Outlawz, is offering help, he'll buy Hodas out. Otherwise, i dont see why he'd be so eager & gung ho to help out?

He woulda done good to sell his team for $175,000 to minimize his debt. Also, DH wanted over $300,000 for his team which he wont get. I dont know who told you he almost sold it for $175,000? The offer i heard was around $325,000 and the buyer was from out west.
