It's nice that it is now out in the open, I think Ed will do a great job for us, as much as I like Bobby I thought his actions on the field cost a game or 2 last year like in Reading during the playoff game when we had a 21 to 6 lead and he worked the crowd and reading up by rubbing it in with his antics.

www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=388874&Category=17&subCategoryID=0Olive leaves Legends; Korns takes over post Wednesday, November 28, 2007 By Jim Thomas Repository Sports Writer CANTON Bobby Olive recently decided it was time to sew up his loose ends. Now Olive is out as head coach of the Canton Legends of the American Indoor Football Association, and General Manager Ed Korns is in. “I’ve been working on a line of clothes for the last two years,” Olive said. “We got it trademarked, Respectgame, and we (his partners) decided this was our coming out year, in ’08. “I wanted Coach Korns to have the opportunity to do his thing.” Olive did his thing coaching the Legends. He led the team to the American Indoor Football League title in 2006 and guided the team to the North Division finals last year, only to lose to the Reading Express a game away from defending their crown Korns takes over a team that was 11-5 last season. “I’m looking forward to it,” said Korns, who helped Olive with the offense and directed the defense last season. “I’ve been talking to the players, trying to get some guys back, get some new guys. “Our goal is to win the whole thing again.”

Is it true that Canton wants to field an all local team so as not to worry about housing players? Just curious.

if they tried hard enough, the canton area could provide plenty of talent for the legends to be successful. i was reading an ohio state blog and they were counting off all the canton kids they keep making it big in columbus, it's too bad they are too good and usually make it to the nfl too.
past few years - kenny peterson (green bay), mike doss (colts), dustin fox (buffalo), justin zwick (osu starter, tryout w/ panthers this year), OL tj downing (cardinals), tyler everett (vikings), lineman kirk barton will get drafted this year, brian hartline (still in columbus, will play in the nfl) just to name a few. michigan got shawn crable from there too and he'll go nfl. hell, beanie wells and antonio pittman (rams) are from akron 20 minutes north.
isn't mount union college in canton too? haven't they won like 10 straight d3 national championships? seems like a great talent base down there to pull from and we all know local guys have a better gate impact as friends and family come to cheer them on.

is this the lastest news from Canton? Man, I cannot wait to play canton this year... hopefully we finally come out with a win under our belt, classic great games we have had so far, making our win against you next season even the better... anyway, what other news is out of canton? Anyone know?

Also, to be more correct, you were given a win then had to take your loss that you earned. lol Anyway ... the games against Huntington have been epic and have fueled a rivalry. I guess since Erie is gone ...

who did we play in the playoffs the first year then? Wow, my memory sucks... hey and that 'win' that was taken away you used illegal players so, yeah, we won, like it or not. lol. man, that last reg season game was intense. the heroes section was much louder than the legends fans. We sat right on the goal line and had a better view of that final play... after studying the aifa rules more closely, there was no right or wrong way to make that call (safety). But then you kicked our butts in the playoffs, so i guess i will move on. more later

Time to move on from forfeit gate as it shut down one message board and we don't want this one gone too. That last play ... I was all the way down in the other end zone, so I couldn't see crap. That was a great game. As far as the fans go, you guys were fired up for it. I was disappointed in our fan performance for that game and the playoff game.
