After winning the 2006 Championship, we were very excited to come home and get
2007 underway.
Now we are headed to Florence, SC this weekend for the 2007 All Star Game. This
again, is a very exciting time for us. We lost to Reading over the weekend to
end our season, having made the playoffs two years in a row!
Even though winning is important, there is a question I often ask; "Have we
made a difference in the community or impacted others around us in a positive
way?" 07 has been a very good year again. Maybe we impacted a few lives when we
delivered meals on wheels to the elderly, or when our players read to school
age children in class, or when we had a walk thru with our friends at the
Workshop, or it could have been when we allowed hundreds of non profit fans in
our games at no cost, or perhaps it was the team autograph session after a home
game when the kids got to meet some of our players with that special gleam in
their eyes. We have never turned down a request for donations from Angel
Auctions to Mighty Mights Pee Wees.
We have been blessed to meet thousand of new fans through our different themes
from Faith to Heroes to Buckeye-Legends Nite. It was a privilege to have Andy
Holcomb who was severed from his waist down in a shredder accident, giving an
inspiring testimony of his faith in God to a number of fans before a game. It
was very moving to have Brooke Hogan (daughter of Hulk Hogan) sing our National
Anthem for Heroes Night as we honored our military and their lost loved ones.
It was also fun to see Chris Speilman and other Buckeye greats sign autographs
and make an appearance at one of our games.
It has been fortunate to see the Professional Football Hall of Fame endorse
arena football and add a display this year. As our front office, coaches,
players, dance team, and Chaplin unite and give back to the community, one of
our goals are to see players advance to the next level. Mission accomplished
again, with two key players moving up this year. These were memorable times
allowing the Legends to give our friends another year of great experiences.
While giving back and being grounded in the spirit is as important as winning,
I am in no way saying we are perfect... we are not, but we try to strengthen
our foundation. With limited staff and resources we continue to get quality
players from our local communities to make a difference along the way. We have
labored intensively to develop a championship team and know what it takes to be
involved in our community.
A special thanks to all of our sponsors and season tickets holders for your
patronage. We look forward to working together again as we prepare for a new
season. Let's huddle up and execute the plays for another exciting season. It's all about teamwork! Please call our office 330 453 8440 or check on line cantonlegends.com as we prepare for the upcoming 08 season.
