The Huntington Heroes are excited to announce that we have finalized our coaching staff for the 2008 season. Joining Head Coach Teddy Keaton and Offensive Coordinator Kenny Johnson will be Defensive Coordinator Charles Gunnings, Wide Receivers Coach Terrell Stewart, Offensive Line Coach Randy McGraw, and Defensive Line Coach Kevin Bruce.
Coach Charles Gunnings comes to the Heroes after being the Head Coach of the Fayetteville Guard. Coach Gunnings lead the Guard to an undefeated season with a Conference Championship, Division Championship and an Indoor Football Championship in 2007. During his 3 year stint with the Guard he has a record of 22 – 8 as Defense Coordinator and 13 – 0 as Head Coach. In 3 years, his defense has been ranked in the top 3 all three years and #1 in the 2007 season.
“The Good Lord has closed the door in Fayetteville and opened up another in Huntington WV, to serve as Defensive Coordinator for the AIFA’s Championship Head Coach Teddy Keaton and staff in 2007. God is Good, All the Time, God is Good“, Coach Gunnings stated after signing his contract with the Heroes.
Also joining the Heroes in 2008 is Wide Receivers Coach Terrell Stewart. Coach Stewart most recently held the same position with the Lakeland Thunderbolts from 2006 to 2007, under current Heroes Head Coach Teddy Keaton. Prior to his time with the Thunderbolts, he was the Offensive Coordinator at Stillman College. He played collegiate football as a wide receiver at Jackson State University, where he was an All American.
Filling out the rest of the Heroes coaching staff are Offensive Line Coach Randy McGraw and, returning for this third season with the Heroes, Marshall University Graduate Kevin Bruce will be coach the Defensive Line.
Coach Keaton, “To have the kind of coaching staff that we have here in Huntington now is almost unprecedented. Four of our coaches have won Championships at the professional level. I am really excited about we are going to do in Huntington in 2008.”
