and you think they reached this point in a vaccuum? it was because of the voices here gene, the ones telling them to do it better.
technology IS and HAS BEEN available for streaming video online, they just choose not to pay for it. b2 networks have been broadcasting hockey and af2 football games for a few seasons now. i watch baseball through mlb.com perfectly fine as well. stop making technology excuses when they are money excuses.
is it better than the aifl days? in many ways, yes. in every aspect? no, theres many aspects, the ones people like me keep harping on, that are the same or worse than before, and since this is a place to discuss the league, and you say the people in charge read this site, i will continue to ask questions and point out what i think are flaws until you ban every last one of us who doesn't think the same way as you guys do. if we all loved every think that m&m did, this wouldn't be a discussion forum, it'd be a internet circlejerk.
im still waitng for big brother to show up again.

I have 2 topline pc's here and i am not at all impressed with it. Even if the technology does exists what makes you think the league can afford it?
You seek perfection but i doubt you'll ever find it in minor league sports. It just doesnt exist. All you have done is complain. I would encourage you to make well thought out suggestions to what you would do to improve the league. Your presentation thus far has been nothing short of whining.

has nothing to do with your pc really, its your pipes. and b2 seems to be doing quite well for themselves irregardless of your experience.
i would expect with the 25k expansion fees and 1500 per month per team (as reported by one of the M's in the p.v. release) that the league could buy what they wanted to. its not like they are paying for refs or anything, right?
seek perfection; it may never come, but if you don't at least strive for it, then what good is it to even be doing this? if you say "oh its the minors so we can't ever be that efficient" then you've already set the bar too low to be successful. if bernie doesn't go after the afl-quality players and just shoots for recycled aifa ones like pittsburgh is, he's never gonna get em, is he? you'll end up with a team of old aifa-quality vets instead of developing afl-type athletes.
you guys are better than this - demand more, expect better. don't be satisfied with the same lipservice we've been getting from these leagues for the last 3 or 4 years.

Regarding video webcasting. The technology is there. Is it TV quality, no, but it's there. The problem lies in the internet connection at the arenas. You have to have a very fast and very reliable connection and that is what doomed AIFA TV. Many of the arena's internet connections couldn't pull it off. Sure you can do it over cable or DSL.. is it the best option? Absolutely not. If you wanna do it right you gotta pay up and get your own dedicated connection and preferably something redundant to insure it works. Now does the league have a tech person in place to advice them on these sort of things? As far as I can tell that's a no. So they are open to being taken advantage of by vendors trying to sell them things like AIFA TV.

good points herowebman. and the thing is real companies like b2 take care of that for you. the league wouldnt have had the problems it did with aifa tv if they had chosen a reputable service that will make sure you have the pipes to deliver the content.
but, we'll have to wait and see, like gene says and see if this smply me delivers. just like we'll wait and see if the west delivers anything more than a shortened exhibition season.

All good points in the last several posts since the ranting has calmed down. I will be the first to say that it all isn't perfect. Yet. But as problems have arisen they do get addressed. Do they always get immediately get fixed? Not always, not right away. But every attempt is made to resolve them. I just ask that you remember this. This is just the beginning of year 2 of the AIFA. I can't and will not hold current ownership responsible for anything that happened prior to last October. I think that things around here have improved significantly since they've taken over. They have done a lot of good things here in order to make this league and the "product" it provides much better than it was in the past. And yes they've made some mistakes along the way. But they correct those mistakes and continue to improve on things that have worked well. There were some very tough decisions that had to be made this off season and I want to be the first to say that I applaud those decisions. There were issues with teams in the league that needed to be resolved and retooled. And I believe that in EACH INDIVIDUAL situation the correct decision was made regarding what was happening in those cities and with those teams. Whether it's taking a season off or finding new ownership or getting a team in the right arena with the right people running it. This league is doing the things that will make it strong and successful for years and years to come. This league is recruiting strong owners in good venues and good locations in order to provide the men playing in this league the proper exposure in order for them to get the opportunity to take that next step in their professional careers. That and providing top quality family sports entertainment for ALL of us to enjoy!!!!! Things are going to get really good around here!!!!!!!!! So come along and enjoy the ride!!!!!!!!!!
