Keaton Is The New Man In Huntington
The Huntington Heroes are excited to announce that the search for a new head coach is over. Today the team is announcing the hiring of Teddy Keaton to lead the Heroes during the 2008 season. Coach Keaton is bringing a championship tradition to Huntington as he lead the Lakeland Thunderbolts to the AIFA Championship in 2007.
In his two years as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations with Lakeland, he led the Thunderbolts to a 27 -5 record, two Atlantic Division South Championship finishes and the first ever AIFA Bowl title.
Before coming to the Heroes, Coach Keaton was the Defensive Coordinator for the Odessa Roughnecks of the NIFL. During his time there, the Roughnecks claimed consecutive Division Championships and two (2) Conference Championships. Coach Keaton left the Roughnecks with an impressive 20 - 2 record and led the league in all defensive categories. Prior to his time with the Odessa Roughnecks, Coach Keaton launched his coaching career as Assistant Head Coach at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL.
"I chose to come to Huntington because I like the direction that the organization was heading. I was looking forward to playing Huntington in the Championship game last year and was disappointed that that didn't happen. Now I look forward to leading them there."
The Heroes have also come to terms with new Offensive Coordinator/Assistant General Manager Kenny Johnson. Coach Johnson served as the Quarterbacks Coach/Interim General Manager in 2006, and last season as Offensive Coordinator/Assistant General Manager, with the Lakeland Thunderbolts.
The Heroes have also made some additions to the Front Office. Jack Bowman has been named President of Operations for the Heroes organization. Jack also serves as the National Director of the AIFA and will split his time handling both responsibilities.
Chip Rossetti was named the teams new General Manager. During the 2007 season, Chip served as the Director of Sales, Marketing and Promotions for the Evansville BlueCats in Evansville Indiana. Prior to his time with the BlueCats, he was a freelance consultant for the Southern Illinois Miners baseball team in Marion Illinois.
Heroes owner and CEO Greg Ramey says that he is excited about the new additions to the organization. "We have put together a championship organization and all of the pieces are coming together. We want to bring a championship to Huntington and we are doing what we have to do to make that happen."
