It's still way to fishy. I think the reason for people razzing on Huntington is just their past history, earned or otherwise.
But this just adds to the list. Let's look at the big board:
What next? Honestly.

First, it was announced that it would count on March 12th. Five days before the game was played. Not at last moment.
Second, if you have the urge to post, please register.

That about sums it up, mystery guest poster I will take fully responsibility for what is posted on our site. Here is the timeline for what was posted last week and today. Coach McPeek sent me an email last monday saying that it was agreed upon that the game will count. We treated it as such the whole week. Got an email last night from a player asking why the site is treating it as a real game. Confused I set out to clear it up since I was still under the impression that it counted. Got an email this morning from coach saying that it was an exhibition game and it didn't count. They dressed 30 players and basically informed us when we got there that it was an exhibition game. So yes it was last minute to us. Got an official quote from coach to put on the site and put out the release you see on the site right now. And yes, mystery poster, some folks aren't happy about how it turned out, but we are acting like professionals about the whole thing by letting it die. End of story.

I'm a little late on this one but if Reading, Erie and Canton left there wouldn't be any teams in this league worthy of calling a champion. No diss to Miss or Tall but they are new teams and the south is nothing like it was last year. And yes I know Reading lost to Tall but both our starting WRs were out with injuries and anyone who has watched this league last year know that Foxworth and Melo are top notch WRs.

First of all ... last year was last year. For me the whining and forfeit chat for Huntington is over.
Second, the Heroes got screwed again. Any coincidence that the coach of the Speed also co-owns the league?
My fellow AIFA fans ... rules are being changed on the fly ... again. Rules are being followed when they benefit a select few ... again.
Quite frankly, at this point, I'm very dismayed at what I've seen take place.

And yes I know Reading lost to Tall but both our starting WRs were out with injuries and anyone who has watched this league last year know that Foxworth and Melo are top notch WRs. Whoa! No diss to Miss. or Tall? Last time I checked we do not run the league. Also, teams from the South are 2-0 against 2 of the 3 teams you listed (injuries happen, they're playing football not chess, deal with it, we do). Also, I believe the Mudcats are still undefeated, and I have no doubt as to their worthiness to be called champions (that will be decided in June at Florence with no time left in the fourth quarter). I do not know how the South was last year, nor do I really care. I do not like schedule changes during the season, and I do not like games counting, then not counting (we are dealing with that ourselves with Gulf Coast). Also, I am troubled at the lack of information coming out of the league (their website is a joke). I want this league to work, but there have to be some major changes to management style and policy if it will survive. I have found many of the fans of the Northern teams to be very encouraging and supportive of us newcomers, but your attitude seems to paint the rest of us with a broad brush of unworthiness to be in the same league as Canton, Erie, and Reading. Not only do I think we are worthy, I think this years champion may speak with a southern drawl. That's what I am hoping for anyway, and it would be nice if they were wearing Mudcat green.

Just wait until they announce their intentions to utilize the AFL's rebound nets next season after the patent expires in a few months...

The North reminds me of an older brother. Helpful and wanting you to do well but yet not wanting you to win and still thinks you do not fully belong.

Up working late, but I get to check in on the board from time to time.
Keith, great example, but I would not include all or even most of the North. What I have found here are guys and gals like me that support their team and want to go watch some football. When I read that post earlier, I just could not let it go unanswered.
We may have our differences on gameday, but really we are all in this together. The options for real leagues are dwindling. You can try the high-dollar route of af2, or go to a small regional league (notice I did not include NIFL). Leagues are becoming so regionalized because of the desire to cut down on travel expenses and build regional rivalries. Even if you win, you are really champion of what? The system we have is good. Mostly divisional play, with every team biting the bullet for a major trip to the other division at least once. The two divisions have playoffs and the two champions meet for all the marbles. Great concept but I think there needs to be more.
If there were a way to share the ideas on team building and marketing among teams, that would be helpful. Even though the regions are different, I believe what has worked here in Tupelo will work in many other cities. Even though we are a East of the MS league, we still get a national feel from the North to the South. This plan is not bad, it just has stalled on some of the decisions that have been made. That can be fixed, the trick is not to jump off the boat before you repair it.
Whew, give me a minute to climb down off this soapbox. Didn't mean to get so wordy. I am going to bed, sleep deprivation.
Go Cats!

Does anybody have a source for the Gulf Coast games not counting?
Because they certainly counted on the AIFA's Official Website Standings!

Until just recently, there was a disclaimer on the bottom of the standings on the Mudcats webpage and I believe on the AIFA Site stating the Gulf Coast games do not count for divisional records. Only after Mississippi and Tallahassee played them. Granted it is not going to make a real difference, but it would have been nice to know going in. Apparently this has now changed again.

Yeah, that's where I saw the disclaimer, was on the league site, right below the standings.
If they've reversed their action, that just makes it even worse. Probably hoping nobody would notice. Then when a fuss was raised a few weeks ago, they change it.
