Heroes Vs. Speed Charity Game Details
This Saturday March 17 the Heroes will travel to Concord, NC to take on the Carolina Speed in a Charity Game. This game was originally thought to be an exhibition game and after much confusion both teams have agreed that this will NOT be an exhibition game. This game will count towards both teams records and factor into the league standings. Heroes and Speed players and coaches will donate a portion of this weeks salary to the Concord Childrens Hospital. The Speed have agreed to return the favor next season in Huntington with the proceeds going to a Tri-State area charity. We will have complete pre-game and post game coverage as usual here on heroesindoorfootball.com.

is up with teams saying, "this isn't going to count" and then it does? Bull excrement ... unbalanced schedules will effect playoff seeding and thereby screw someone out of the playoffs eventually. It's official ... with the onset of AIFA TV, Smart Circle, Baltimore adding games to the schedule after the schedule is set and now charity games counting in the standings ... this league is easily as bad as the AIFL (both versions). Now all we need is teams folding, semi-pro fill in teams and forfeits to complete the picture.

My sentiments exactly! What was the point of starting the AIFA, supposedly as an alternative to the way things were run in the AIFL, if you make thee same mistakes that you did before?

Myth, I'd say you're right on the money. It's basically a load of BS. I have nothing official to back this up, but the vibe I'm getting from Heroes camp is they are not happy about this either. They've had months to put it together and now at the last minute things are finally starting to come together. It's a noble idea, but it's been poorly put together by Carolina from the start. I hope we can go down there and beat them good. Just wreaks of especially since the Speed coach is one of the co-owners of the league. Someone should start a list of all the stupid stuff this league does. Then we can review it when the season is over and have a good laugh.

And who thinks both teams will be around next year, or at least if they are will they even be in the same league so Carolina can return the favor? If I'm making $200, minus taxes and stuff, I'm not donating sh!t...

Imagine that. My guess would be if Huntington would have won. Then it would have counted. Since they lost. I'm betting "forfiet" was mentioned somewhere until they got the "didn't count" notice.

If it did count it would make the playoffs even harder to figure out.
Reading is playing 16 games (2 extra against Baltimore). How would that work if they counted?

I'm going to squash this attitude of Huntington's "whining" before you get the chance to start. Let's put the blame where it belongs, squarely on the Speed and the league. There has been no communication on this thing from the beginning. After talking with a few people here is what I have discovered. The Heroes coaches were reluctant to play an exhibition game mid-season, as any coach would be. Turns out last week the Speed said OK let's make it a real game. Heroes coaching staff said OK, let's do it. We submit our 20 man roster as usual and go through the whole week treating it as a regular game. We load up go down there without the full roster (can't travel everyone). We get there and Carolina has 30 guys dressed (against league rules) and they decide that this is an exhibition game. Mink even said so in a pre-game spheil on the PA system. This was not relayed to anyone outside of the arena apparently, which is why it is being reported as counting on numerous websites. So the way I read into it is the Speed pulled a switcheroo on the Heroes and didn't tell them till the last minute. Kind of like, "Hey guys you're already here let's play some ball." I think the Heroes have reacted professionally and with class throughout the whole thing. The release on their website reflects that. Now I don't know if this is exactly what happened, but reading between the lines it is just my guess. Maybe someone with some connections better than mine can clarify. herowebman, maybe?
