Come celebrate our championship game with us. We have a one-hour pre-game show on the internetwork, followed by the game broadcast with a sideline reporter. As typical proceedure, we update the league site after each score and will include a running blog as the game progresses. And afterward, see a quick uploading of game stories, analysis, and photos. So, just by being in that league. You have a 50% chance of being in the championship game. And a 25% chance that you will be league champions at the start of the season. Why yes, Joe, that is one way of looking at it. But it is a source of pride to win a league that nearly 50 percent of the games are decided by less than a touchdown. And that each team has beaten the other teams at least once. And that the worst team can beat the best team and not limp in at 1-13 or something horrid like that. I close by giving props to one Danny Burnham -- Gonzo13 - -for his work this season. My fan board moderator has the credentials to be the lead writer and press row coordinator for the championship game rather than just being a bystander. Thanx to him, we had our web sites updated within an hour of conclusion, and not the day after with reprints. |

Congratulations to the Spartans, Champions of the World Indoor football league I guess you could just call them champions of the "World" for short  Also thanks to Dan for allowing me the opportunity to write the lead story for the game, along with being press row coordinator. It was fun being involved instead of just getting a free pass to come in watch the game. |

I'm dam happy with my 1-13 team. Atleast I got to see different teams throughout the year. A four team league doesn't have that luxury. Congrats to Augusta..................former AIFL team. In closing I'd like to thank the FAB for letting the WIFL post and pat eachother on their backs. Since there are more people on this board. Otherwise, it may have never been seen by anyone.  |

In all sincerity, I have to agree with Joe on one thing. Thanks to the FAB for being good sports with all the ribbing this season, and for not banning us. Now I'd like to address the four team thing one last time. When we started, I was not very big on the idea of only having four teams. I thought I'd get sick of the same matchups over and over. While there is something to be said for having many teams, and seeing someone different every weekend, having only four teams gave us something very unique this season. The teams had to constantly raise their level of play and come up with new gameplans because they were all so familiar with each other. That gave us an excellent on field product, and built some great rivalries. Another aspect was the level at which fans became involved. Seeing the same players come to town two or three times made the fans really familiar with the opposing teams players. There were several fans with seats near the field at different arenas that were on first name basis with players from other teams, because they had seen them so much. When you yell out to a player on an opposing team to tell him he sucks, then he turns around and calls you by name to tell you that such to a higher degree....That makes you part of the game, not just an observer. Again, thanks to the FAB for allowing us to come on here and spout off, and hang on to your hats boys and girls, silly season has begun! |

Well Joe, we take our role in doing things the right way -- no matter what the circumstances or how many teams are in our league -- with great pride and figure you'd both appreciate and benefit from it.

Rowser did hit two Unos last night in front of 3,529 fans.
I know that number because I read (and wrote it for that matter) on the league site and both team sites, which were upadated within an hour of the end of the game.
I also heard it on the webcast which has been archived already...excellent commentary.
Great game by the way, two heavyweights slugging it out 'till the end, Augusta's winning score coming with only 18 seconds to play. Even then Columbus still had a shot to win the game.
We couldn't have asked for a more competitive championship game.
Holy smokes, the whole thing was darn near a mind blowing experience.
I almost forgot....You know the one thing that didn't get reported?
That Chris Griesen (Georgia Force QB) started the game last night for Augusta......Know why it wasn't reported?? Because it DIDN'T HAPPEN!!
So yes Dan, to answer your question, I think an Uno chant is in order.

The UNO chant has roots in the passion of the South American rumba, then segues seemlessly into street-wise Brooklyneese, then quickly tributes one of the finest British comedy troupes of all time before concluding with the empty pomp and threats of the French revolution. Truly a global offering.
