National Drawbridge Competition

On May the 3rd through May the 6th I was in Phoenix Arizona to compete in the TRAC Drawbridge Competition. We had to build a drawbridge out of balsa wood and craft sticks. Out of 97 teams 3 were invited. There were two teams that were invited from Tupelo Middle School. There were three people per team. I was in one of them. The other team from Tupelo finished 3rd the team I was in finished 1st in the ENTIRE country. Both teams bridges from Tupelo held up 89 pounds. I am so excited. Besides winning I had a great time with my friends. (there was a middle and high school competition-I of course was in the middle.)

I recieved a bunch of ASHTO stuff like pens and notepads, I got a gold medal, and most importantly I got a $500 savings account that I am going to wait and spend until college. If the high school competes the next four years and the team I am in finishes first I can have $2,500+ dollars in my account. Even if I finish third I could have over 1,500 dollars. That is if we get invited!
