Last night ESPN had the Braves vs. Phillies game on. I have Dish Network and the game was blacked out. I have no idea why. Anyone else in Erie get blacked out from that game?

MLB is stupid. I woul dlove to have the MLB internet package but you cant watch your home team, even if they are on the road. Who the hell wants to fork out big dollar to watch other teams. MLB must use Community College dropouts in their marketing department.

Well, our "home" teams in Erie are the Indians and Pirates, each a good 2 hour drive to their stadium. The Phillies are over 300 miles away. I don't understand why I was blacked out from that game. I don't think blackout areas should be more than 60 miles from the stadium, especially for baseball which plays too many games during the week for out of towners to attend.

I finally got an answer from Dish. Looks like ESPN requested my zip code to be blacked out. Talking to some people in another forum, it looks like all of PA was blacked out.

Especially when you are talking about the Braves, the Cubs or the White Sox ... make sure you check WTBS and WGN which are national "local" stations. Sometimes you'll get blacked out if it's on either of them.
Fox "owns" Saturday afternoons, so if your team is playing and it's not a Fox game, there is no TV (not even local).
ESPN "owns" Sunday night so the same thing applies with the exception of the Rangers where it's so damn hot they don't dare play during the day.

The Phillies play the Giants on Sunday night on ESPN, so we'll see what happens with that game.

Pretty crazy combination of teams to root for there, mm1. Although, I guess it's better than being a fan of both the Red Sox and Yanks.
