Wyoming Cavalry Joins the Indoor Football League (IFL)
(Casper, WY - August 31, 2010) - The Wyoming Cavalry Professional Indoor Football Team announced today they will play in the Indoor Football League (IFL) beginning with the 2011 season. The Cavalry organization was unanimously accepted into the IFL by their Board of Directors earlier in the day.
The move reacquaints the Cavalry with rival teams Billings Outlaws, Sioux Falls Storm, Sioux City Bandits, Omaha Beef and Tri-Cities Fever, and creates an automatic 'I-25 border-war' with the Colorado Ice out of Ft. Collins. The IFL - a merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football - enters its third year with a national footprint of just under 30 teams.
Although the IFL is only in its third year, most of the teams have been operating for 5 or more years. The Cavalry celebrate twelve years of professional indoor football when the 2011 season begins.
"We are opening a new chapter for the fans and supporters of the Wyoming Cavalry," says Director of Business Operations, Argeri Layton. "It's an exciting time to be a Cavalry fan!"
Division alignment for the Cavalry will be determined during league meetings next week, and the 14-game schedule is slated to be available in November.
"We look forward to meeting and working with our new business partners in the IFL, and we anxiously anticipate the camaraderie, as well as the on-field competition," continues Layton.
"We are proud to welcome the Wyoming Cavalry to our established league," says IFL Commissioner, Tommy Benezio. "The IFL's desire is to grow in quality and I can not think of a better way to achieve this goal than the addition of the Wyoming Cavalry. A team with such an impressive history and polished management multiplies the overall strength of our league."
The public is invited to the press conference on Sept. 21 at 2 pm - location to be announced - to hear more details about the 2011 season. Fans interested in reserving season tickets may contact the Cavalry office at 307.232.8170 or email info@wyomingcavalry.com.
As much as I enjoyed the Aifa community this is a long overdue move for the Cavs.
