I'm enjoying the comments so far. I especially liked this one: No mention about putting the team on eBay without even mentioning it to anyone in the organization. No mention of the numerous offers there has been to sell the franchise. No mention of the numerous deals made only to have the terms changed at the last minute. Yeah, the city screwed them over. They screwed themselves over. Welcome Cougars!

The city's done nothing to inspire confidence in anything they do by so willingly jumping in bed with Haines.
Of course, this doesn't appear to be the first time Healy's done something questionable (and Haines *is* running for the state house in this area, and they share political party...)

Quite frankly, the city should have nothing to do with this other than provide a place to play for a fee. Period.
Hoffman had numerous opportunities to sell the Legends and even had deals at several points only to come back before signing on the line and demanding to be "a part of the team". Now, he has no team, no part of the new team and he's crying the blues that the city didn't bail him out.
The "Legends Foundation" was created as a non-profit and the team was going to play under it's umbrella. Certain advantages to that which I'm sure exit or someone could elaborate on better than I.
Bottom line ... Hoffman hasn't played in two years. Hoffman made a ton of promises and didn't deliver on any of them. Hoffman won his championship because of Bobby Olive and Ed Korns bringing in AFL players. Then, after he pissed off the co-owner and things got tough, he wouldn't pony up housing to win again.
Wah. See you in the $7 seats at the Civic Center Joe. The Cougars won't be comping every seat in the house like you did.
Oh I could go on for hours ... just irritates me that this guy keeps crying the blues.

And so long as Haines makes exactly zero promises, he should be able to deliver on them. It's when he starts making promises he has no intention of following through that he causes problems.
