6/10/10 Reading Eagle Quarterback Rob Flowers expects to return Saturday when the Reading Express plays its final regular season home game of the 2010 season. Flowers was injured in the final minute of the first half in Saturday's 56-20 win over New Jersey. Dan Kelly finished out the half and played the entire second half at quarterback. Flowers suffered a bruised neck and left shoulder when he was knocked into the boards after scrambling for a loose football. "I'm hurt, not injured," Flowers said. "Injured means you can't play. Hurt means that you're just hurt and you've just got to suck it up and go out there and play. Hopefully I'll be OK for Saturday." The Express (7-5) is tied with Erie (7-5) for the third and final playoff spot in the American Indoor Football Association East Division. Erie holds the tiebreaker by virtue of winning 2-of-3 games against Reading. Flowers, who won the AIFA Most Valuable Player Award after leading the Express to last year's championship, has thrown for 50 touchdowns and run for 10 this season. Interim coach Chris Thompson said he expects Flowers will be on the field when the Express plays the Fayetteville Guard (2-9) at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Sovereign Center. "Him and Dan are going to get a lot of reps all week, and we'll make a decision as we get closer to the game," Thompson said. "I'd probably bet both of them are going to play come Saturday night."
