Playoff Bound Mariners to Assist at Y Clinics, Other Events throughout Year
BALTIMORE, MD (June 9, 2010) – The Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) are proud to announce their partnership with the Y of Central Maryland.
“The Y of Central Maryland strives to seek and obtain the full potential of everyone in their program and beyond. This is exactly what the Mariners look to do every time we go into the community and step on the field. I look forward to helping the Y of Central Maryland achieve their goals along the way,” said Mariners General Manager Greg Justice.
The Y of Central Maryland is a charitable organization dedicated to developing the full potential of every individual through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Operating in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties, the Y is the leading provider of health and wellness facilities and programs and serves more children and youth in more ways than any other organization in the state.
Their programs include preschools, Before and After School Enrichment Sites, Head Start, summer camps, community outreach and Youth Asset Development program sites, Family Center Ys, Family Aquatic Centers, hundreds of health & wellness classes inclusive of sports leagues and clinics with over 100,000 men, women and children engaged as members and participants.
A full 33% of the Y's budget goes to providing programs and services to those who otherwise could not afford to pay, 86% of which support programs and services for children and youth, and more than $11 million a year reinvested into scholarships and community building activities.
The Mariners, who call 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore home, are in the midst of an undefeated season and are continuing to work hard to achieve their ultimate goal of winning an AIFA championship this summer. The Mariner’ coaches and players will be giving back to the area’s youth by participating in several Y flag football clinics in July and also will be supporting the Y and its events throughout the upcoming year.
