lol, gotta love this quote. From a fans perspective are we supposed to sit back and breath a sigh of relief cause an Alaskan team that cant afford to be in the league is returning and on top of that has admitted financial hardships? Poor marketing for the league. If anything it would turn people away much like a few of the Wolves fans are now turned off: "According to the Predators ownership group and the AIFA, the Predators will make the two trips to Wenatchee, WA to play the Venom, and have plans for their remaining home dates, as they do plan to be back next season. "We didn't get into this to be a 'one-and-done' member team," says Hans Deemer, Predators' owner."
And yet another wingding. In fact the whole article is full of them. Bottomline is the preds ownership group cant afford it. Cant rely on sponsor money to make it work. Either you have your own financial resources or not. Quite frankly i think its easier to qualify as an owner of a team in the AIFA than to qualify for bank financing to buy a used car. : "I believe they want to be back next year, and I believe they got into this business this year - in good faith, feeling comfortable that all their resources were in place," says Cavs' Director of Business Operations, Argeri Layton. "As I said last week, we don't like how this scenario has played out in the least, but I also know that the AIFA did their due diligence in qualifying the Predators' ownership group, and the group themselves took on the challenge with open eyes, a workable business model for them, and all the support they needed in place - including the financial support."
In reading that last article the Cavs are ABSOLUTELY in DENIAL. BTW congrats to the Cavs on winning the west and making their 3rd straight appearance in a non competitive conference....YAWN.....Watch as your attendance drops next season and then tell us how we too were wrong...

and this article from the Frontiersman is funny too. Im a bit leary how they refer to them playing another "indoor football squad". Sounds like they are gonna win in a rout when in fact they probably woulda gotten their doors blown off by Wyoming... :
Predators forfeit game to Wyoming Cavalry, plan to host Anchorage-based team on Saturday By Jeremiah Bartz Published on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 3:45 PM AKDT
Frontiersman
WASILLA — The Arctic Predators will host a game Saturday, but it won’t be against the Wyoming Cavalry.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Cavalry will not make a scheduled trip to Alaska. Wyoming will receive its second forfeit victory and improve to 10-0 in American Indoor Football Association play. Rather than hosting the Cavalry, the Predators will play an Anchorage-based indoor football squad, Predators coach Hans Deemer said Wednesday afternoon.
The game is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Curtis Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla.
See the Friday edition of the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman for more.

I feel sorry for ya wolfman. We here go thru this every year when new teams are announced and new fanbases come on board. High hopes always seem to fall at some point in the season for one reason or other.

Well Ya know... In the scheme of things... We know nothing! It's a shame that the IFL and Cav's don't get along.. That is all I need to say I think

Well I will say for fact the cavs are not in denial at all really and the situation with the IFL isn't just about not getting along I won't go into details not my place to do that but gocavs1 it isn't as simple as just switching over the laytons are a good group of people and want the best for the team so I will say yes it's disappointing some with this league but it is minor league sport.

cavfan I know they want the best for the team and they have been around for 11 years for a reason I know about some IFL situations with the Cav's and i understand it isn't that simple. The thing alot of people here don't understand is the Cavalry are not only about football and that is good. They are wonderful supporters of the community and the kids in the community. I don't fault the Cavalry for other teams that can't keep up their end of the deal. The Cavalry have always held up their end. Everyone else should be able to as well. In know Argeri and Mike aren't happy about what happened but it is done now. can't dwell on the past ya gotta keep moving forward!

Let me say something else here as well. Just because the Cavalry continue to take the high road in the situation doesn't mean they don't understand the situation. The only thing the Cavalry have done is continue to put a decent product on the field and work hard with our community. They haven't asked for this or are enjoying the problems when they have a risen. Obviously when they agreed to join the AIFA they were hoping to not have these problems. All they want is to play football win or lose and to be successful as a business and supporter of the community.. They have never lied about a cancelled game like Wasilla has and that just sickens me. It isn't the Cavalry that should get their nuts together it is the AIFA. The cav's have lasted a folding of a league before and if there is no West I am sure they will still be playing somewhere

No one is disputing that Mike and Argeri are among the class of the sport and I give them credit for towing the company line.
The issue here accountability. You can't blame the economy. You can't say that other businesses fail and so do minor league football, baseball, basketball and hockey teams. Frak, I have respect for teams that complete a season, realize they don't have the resources for another year and call it a day.
But when you don't have the resources to get through a year and tarnish the credibility of the other teams, league and sport, someone has to step up and be accountable. No one wants to do that -- they want to go "if it's so easy and you have the answers, why don't you do it?" My response is simple -- "Because I am not going to try to be something I'm not." But if you want to give me a check, I can always give it a shot.
Have the money set aside so even if you don't sell a sponsorship or even a ticket, you can meet all the obligations for a season. Don't send out lame excuses or lies when a game doesn't take place. Do it right.
Oh, and Gene ... Haines is bad. M'kay?

Yup i agree with Dan. Its not about the Cavs here. The Preds dont have the funds & as we suspected from the time they were announced to join the AIFA, we knew travel expenses were gonna be an issue. I do however have an issue with the Cavs statement saying the AIFA did their due diligence in qualifying the Preds. But knowing they are smart people they know thats not true & they are just taking the high-road.
Will be an interesting offseason for the west....

Yeah not sure how you can say a league did their due dilligence when this stuff happens not only in Wasila but also Ogden. Not just this year either. We've had teams with weak finances every season.

I am thinking after reading the Stories from Wasilla newspaper and the comments on the stories that they are not going to be back next year. Seems this guy has pissed alot of people off and rightly so. As we all know though..... He isn't the first to do that.

I too believe that. We been averaging 4-5+ teams leaving every year & just as many new ones to replace them. Why should 2011 be any different. The Preds fit the profie of teams past who have folded.....
