Just wondering how many of you were AFL fans before you were a fan of an indoor league?
I was never a fan of the AFL until we got the Freeze. Now I enjoy watching the AFL too. I'm a Philly Soul fan!
I think the AFL (espcially since it's going primetime on ESPN this year) can really help bring fans to indoor football.

Souls suck. Go Columbus.  I started watching AFL on NBC a while back (I think when they first started airing it) but the problem was I'm always working during the games. I may DVR 24 on TV and watch AFL on ESPN on another TV since I don't work Mondays. I don't follow it has much now because we have the Freeze but I still watch it and cheer on Columbus. |

I've been watched the AFL since about 93, and really became a fan in 97. I can't really say I was a diehard until near the end of the 2000 season. My team is the Grand Rapids Rampage and try to make it up at least once a season for a home game. Last year, I also went to their road game in Columbus (two years ago I went to the one in Philly as well). I'm a fan of the Soul as well because originally a lot of the Rampage players went there to follow Trigg when the team was formed.

Sucks for ABC that with all the close games yesterday they end up airing a dud for the first game of the season. 60-7, ouch.

I'm (sadly) old enough to have gone to all of the home games for the now defunct Pittsburgh Gladiators (1987-1990). It's great to see the games getting some decent exposure now with ESPN. I don't really have a favorite team, maybe the Avengers, but that's not based on anything on the field. I'm not a big Soul fan though -- maybe it's the Jon Bon Jovi connection.
