Hard to believe that the Reading Express winning a "National Championship" couldnt make this list? I aint taking nothing away from any of the teams mentioned but can someone from the paper please explain to me how the R-Phils making the Eastern Conference Playoffs only to lose is bigger news than the Express winning a "National Championship"? What an embarrassment. The people of Reading deserve better reporting! Atleast an "Allentown" station recognize the Express Championship as a Top Berks story of the decade. Heres the Reading Eagles list of the Top stories of 2009. 1.Chad Henne becomes Dolphins starting QB. 2.Pedro Martinez draws capacity crowd at FirstEnergy Stadium. 3.Reading High boys basketball team has eventful season. 4.Reading Phillies reach Eastern League playoffs. 5.Kutztown University men's basketball team has best season ever. 6.Conrad Weiser's Lamont Fowler enjoys record runs. 7.Albright football team reaches NCAA Division III quarterfinals. 8.Three Berks wrestlers win PIAA gold medals. 9.Kutztown University drops two sports for budgetary reasons. 10.Chuck Domino leaves Reading Phillies. It's funny, when you posted the WFMZ decade article, I thought "geeze the paper actually acknowledged the Express" only to have the Oh moment realizing it was not the paper.
So I guess that dovetails very nicely with the above mentions.
