. Let's see what the options are?
Fold?
Stay with AIFA?
Move to SIFL?
Find another league all together?
What do the Charlotte fans and players think about all of this?

With the addition of Augusta and shortly Albany to the fold, the SIFL would be a great choice for both The Carolina Speed and the Fayetteville Guard. Look at the advantages:
Natural Rivalries Lower Travel Cost Lower Salary Level Less Overnight Stay Fans Could Travel Joint Marketing No League Owned Teams Higher Chance of Regional Media Coverage
I know that the owners of both teams realize the advantages of going SIFL. With the AIFA having lost 3 teams already to other leagues, Florence shut down and New Mexico on the way down, a decision to go SIFL could be survival. Carolina could be the cornerstone of the league in the future!

What is the lower salary level I keep reading about? I can't find anything on the internet discussing salary structure of the SIFL. Somebosy enlighten me. AIFA Wishes Columbus Lions Well BALTIMORE, Maryland (September 24, 2009) – The American Indoor Football Association learned last night that two of its member teams, the Columbus Lions and the South Carolina Force, intend to leave the AIFA for a regional indoor football league. ... At the September AIFA League Meetings, team owners voted overwhelmingly to keep the regular-season schedule at 14 games and its player payroll at the existing level. The regional league pays considerably less for players, and it plays 12 regular-season games. ... This is on the front page of the AIFA web site. The "regional league" is the SIFL

Interesting situation here....geographically and financially, it makes the most sense for Fayetteville and Charlotte to go where Augusta, Columbus and Greenville go......that keeps a regional rivalry, while minmizing travel costs, due to the fact it would allow the SIFL to basically create both Midwest and Eastern Divisions....Fayetteville, Charlotte, and Greenville are all within 3 hours of each other, so you have instant rivalries.....Augusta and Columbus are on managable bus rides (8-10 hours)....you could also weigh in and say that sending each of these guys out west for one to two games and bringing the teams into this region from the west would be ideal as both a draw and to split travel expenses more evenly.....would also be able to double up on some of the regional matchups.....
As for the pay...what I have "heard" is that the SIFL is down to $150 a game with $50 win bonus...not a huge dip.....but lets be honest......both when I played, and the current guys playing.....this is not their only source of income....this is just "folding money" for 99.9% of these guys, as they try and get game film and exposure to make it to the next level.....

Regional league.... Cute. The AIFA should look in the mirror. Before they know it, they will become "regional"
SIFL is making nice progress in becoming a great league. They have guys in the front office who get it. Unlike some who want "National" TV deals.

Interesting developments here....... the Speed are listing the Guard's GM as thiers on their website along with the infamous "information to be released at a later date" theme... then the Guard came out this week (Dec 9th, Fay. Observer article) and Said they will be fielding a team in the league this year.... First issue I have is with the GM...I mean, you can't ride two horses with one a**...... Second....I am really wary of the fact nither of these have signed player 1 in the offseason, and are reluctant at best to post solid info.... anybody else shed any light on this?

Fayetteville after will have a team and more than likely it will be the same team the have had for the past 6 seasons, give or take a couple. The owner dont want to spend money housing out of town players so u get what u get.The guard hasnt signed a coach yet but odds are gunnings will be back with his boys and they will be a sub-500 team unless he brings in some new faces. The speed went dark for this season.
