You do realize that means giving the Steelers a draft pick compensation if it were to happen this off season (which won't happen), and if they wait until next year, means another year of Crennel.

There's the speculation of him "retiring", taking a year off then signing with the Browns if things are still bad. who knows.

I can't imagine Cowher going back to Cleveland if he does retire.

This year was simply awful for the Browns. I'm talking injuries.
We went through 9 centers before we played our first game, no healthy DB's, this one out, that one out, etc, etc, etc.
I really don't think the Browns are that far away, however, health is a major factor in the NFL. If they stay healthy, they could make a run ... if they don't 2-14 ... maybe.

Who do Steelers fans want as a replacement to Cowher?

I'd say if it's Bill's time to go, promote Whizenhunt. I'd also like Ken to keep the staff together if he can or as much of it as possible. If he's(Dan) to go outside I'd say go for Tony Dungy(as long as he has the playoff choking out of him).

Colts will not let Dungy go. Keep dreaming.
More then likly someone from the inside will be promoted but don't be surprised if big changes happen to the steelers this off season.

They went outside of the organization to get Cowher and Noll. So it would be no surprise if Dan does it again.

The Colts will probably resign Dungy. And if there is a bidding war, the Steelers probably won't win... we all know they are cheap.

Now that Cowher is officially gone, let the name dropping begin............................

Cowher is one step closer to coaching the Browns. Maybe the Steelers can call up Art Shell. I hear the Raiders let him go. I wonder why???

We won't call in Art.
These are the names right now that are in that race. Ken Whisenhunt(Offensive Coordinator Pittsburgh) Russ Grimm(Offensive Line Coach Pittsburgh) Ron Rivera(Defensive Coordinator Chicago) Mike Singletary(Linebackers Coach San Francisco) Kirk Ferentz(Head Coach Iowa) Dom Capers(Former Assitant) Mike Mularkey(Former Assitant) Jim Haslett(Fomer Assitant)
If we stay in system, I'd like to see Whisenhunt become the head coach. If we go outside, Kirk Ferentz or Ron Rivera would be good.
