The Columbus Lions will host Military Appreciation Night April 18, 2009 at the Columbus Civic Center taking on the DC Armor at 7:30P.M. The Columbus Lions hold this annual event as their way of saying “thanks” to all the service men and women and their families whose lives have been forever changed because of their sacrifices and service to our country.
This year, our Military Appreciation Night sponsors span the “industry” horizon in support of the military; from fire retardant clothing, to banking and insurance, personal support and advice in every area of life, or free phone calls to loved ones. Our sponsors for the 2009 Military Appreciation Night are: ASMBA, DriFire, Humana MarketPOINT, Military One Source, National Infantry Association, Navy Federal Credit Union, Pro Photo To Go, Soldiers R&R Center, SPRINT, United Concordia, USO Columbus, and USAA. Many of our sponsors will have company information available to inform soldiers of benefits available to them as service members as well as entertainment giveaways that soldiers will appreciate on deployments.
Thanks to our sponsors, 3,200 basic training soldiers will be able to attend the event and enjoy an evening of fun, break in training, as well as receive service member benefit information. The Columbus Lions also have a special discount for Military Appreciation Night with $6 upper level tickets per military ID. Visit the box office at the Columbus Civic Center to purchase tickets early and get in the “jungle”… if you dare!
Military Appreciation Night has also allowed the Columbus Lions to team up with Bob Calvert, founder and talk show host of Talking with Heroes radio talk show. Bob started his website and talk show following the enlistment of his, then 18 year-old, daughter into the Army. It was his way of supporting her and her now husband, who is also in the Army and recently returned from a 15-month deployment to Mosul, Iraq. Talkingwithheroes.com is a non-biased, non-political, real life website dedicated to “helping, honoring, and supporting our men and women in the military and their families”. Please take time to visit www.talkingwithheroes.com as well as Bob’s recent addition, www.thankyouforyourservice.us.
On Sunday April 12, 2009 from 8-9P.M. (EST), Lions fans, military members, and local residents can listen Live on Talking with Heroes website as Lions’ owners and staff will be speaking with Bob as well as many other local Columbus community leaders thanking soldiers for their service. Sunday, April 19, 2009 beginning at 8P.M.(EST), Bob will speak with Fort Benning soldiers on their experiences during deployments, transition after deployment, and other topics related to their military service.
Again, please take the time to visit www.talkingwithheroes.com and www.thankyouforyourservice.us as these websites literally “speak from the front-line” and update Americans on the daily events happening in Iraq and Afghanistan.
