DC Armor Indoor Football Team Announces Training Camp Dates and 40 Man Team Roster
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DC Armor indoor football team continues to prepare for its inaugural season in the nation’s capital by holding its first ever training camp beginning February 23rd, through March 9, 2009. The camp, which will be held from 5am to 8am at the Soccer Dome at 7330 Montevideo Road Jessup, MD 20794, starts its first full day of work outs on February 24th. The Armor will feature a roster of 40 players going into camp – 18 of which were born in the Washington DC Metropolitan area-. Leading that talented pool are three players Steve Savoy, Roland Minor, and Gary Briggs, local standouts that arguably could all be considered DC area high school legends. The camp will be open to all and the media is especially encouraged to attend. For more information on the Armor’s training camp roster please see attached document. The Armor will also kick-off its season on March 13th, 2009, with an away game against the Reading Express in Reading Pennsylvania. Please see official Armor game schedule on page fivefor more details.
“Although we knew the area was rich with talent and experience, we didn’t think we would be able to put together almost half our camp roster with local guys experienced in arena ball. This roster is very strong,” said Head Coach, Daniel James. “Having done this a while, I can tell you that this is a great group with a lot of talent and experience. We picked up over seven guys from the Arena Football League.”
The Armor has assembled some of the best talent available which should make for a very competitive and entertaining training camp. "Coach James will have a real task getting down to the 30 man roster form the 40-men invited to training camp,” said team owner Corey Barnette.
Body Armor Dance Team
To compliment the game day experience, the DC Armor is proud to announce the inaugural season of its dance and spirit team, the DC Body Armor. The team is led by dance team coordinators, Bea Codjoe and Jane Said. “We plan feature exciting and electric dance performances that are distinctively DC and representative of its world class status,” said Bea Codjoe. “We have a cast of 24 beautiful women that can really dance and will add excitement to the game day! The city will be proud,” said Jane Said.
The DC Body Armor will be performing around town leading up to the team’s inaugural game on April 4th.
