Yeah I like the logo too. I could see the team going with a Raiders look, that would be nice. From what M&M said it looks like Washington and Baltimore will be in the same division which like you said is good for regional play. Hard to say what their color scheme will be. I just designed this forum off their logo colors. I even wiki'd them and they didnt have a color scheme assigned yet. I am guessing it'll be silver, black & whie. Maybe some red too.

Looks that's more business for the metro since the Nationals moved to the Anacostia River area.

It is not more business for the Metro. Nationals Park is a half block away from the Green Line Navy Yard stop, even closer than it was at RFK. I doubt the Armor are going to produce enough fans for Metro to notice a bump in rider-ship. This team faces an uphill battle, I don't think people here realize what a huge hindrance playing at the Armory is. Bad part of town, old arena, and too big.
Not to mention it is not like Baltimore. First Mariner Arena is the best and only facility for the Mariners. There is no other arena in the City limits for them. I know it is sad when First Mariner is your town’s premier venue but that is Baltimore. In Washington we have the Verizon Center (Capitols & Wizards) which is not AIFA realistic and the Armory which is not acceptable for much. This franchise would be would be better off in the suburbs at George Mason University’s Patriot center.

Amazing what you can do with the internet these days. I have managed to find out a lot about D.C Armor owner Corey Barnette. Barnette graduated from Duke in 1997 and gives back to there minority MBA program ( www.fuqua.duke.edu/alumni/connect/pnews/120605-minorityworkshop.htm ). Besides running his own business, the Scroll Companies, it appears Barnette also has connections with Blue Devil Ventures run by former Duke Basketball stars Christian Laettner and Brian Davis. This is even more intriguing because Blue Devil Ventures is apart of D.C United Holdings which owns Washington’s MLS franchise the D.C United ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.C._United ). It appears that Barnette also lead a group attempting to bring MLS and a new soccer stadium to San Diego ( www.voiceofsandiego.org/articles/2007/05/09/sports/949futbol050907.txt. ) From all this research it looks like Barnette is a legitimate owner. I will take a Duke MBA backing an AIFA team any day.

I guess somewhere you don't want to be walking alone late at night. ha. I've also heard that Prince Georges County in the Southeast is bad too.

Your buddy is right the area near the Navy Yard is kind of sketchy. With the new development around Nationals Park things are improving but it will take about 4 more years for the neighborhood to be turned around. The D.C Armory is near the Navy Yard but not the same Metro stop. The Armory and RFK have there own Metro stop which is appropriately named Stadium – Armory. Unfortunately it is in the same neighborhood (South East D.C) as Nationals Park. While the area around the new stadium is being redeveloped no similar revitalization will be occurring near the Armory.
Prince Georges County as a whole is pretty bad too. There are some nice parts but areas bordering the Anacostia River and D.C are pretty bad off. Like I said before this franchise would be better served in Fairfax County Virginia at George Mason University’s Patriot Center.

You're right though, it seems like it's going to be a struggle for them to convice families to come that way on a Friday/Saturday night. I'd rather not have to worry for the livelihood of my wife and others when I go to a game. Good thing that gun ban was lifted LOL

On a positive the Metro stop is on the same block as the Armory, you don’t even need to cross the street. I plan on buying season tickets but if I don’t feel comfortable after my first few visits I won’t be returning. It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd the Armor draw at the Armory. I don’t mean to be stereotypical but it has been my observation that the typical AIFA crowd is predominantly white but not more so than any other sporting event. It would not surprise me, given the location of the Armory, if Armor games have a more urban crowd.

Talked about the DC Armor a lot in “This Week in the AIFA”. Had our owner and Morris talking about the franchise in two separate segments. Nothing major to report, our owner mentioned being close to inking a coach with a lot of experience in other indoor leagues but not the AIFA. Other news revolved around further expansion. Look for an announcement this week about a new east coast team (Syracuse?) and two west coast squads after that.

Utah moved so that could be one in the west as well as Wenatchee.

Let me know how much single game and season tickets for the DC Armor go for. I may be going to a couple of games.

Let me know how much single game and season tickets for the DC Armor go for. I may be going to a couple of games. Average prices around the league could be as low as $7 per game to as high as $22. Those would be for season tickets. Walkup prices would be a couple of dollars more. Hopefully DC will get their prices up on their site soon.

Word on the street is that Daniel James, the old Baltimore coach, will lead the Armor this season. Any one else hear that?
