Raiders suspended, Mayhem to playoffs
Tuesday, 10 June 2008
(Canton, OH) - The Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) has suspended the Rochester Raiders indefinitely for actions relating to the attempted resignation of the Raiders from the CIFL on Sunday. The Raiders will not participate in the 2008 CIFL Playoffs and a decision on their future will be decided when the season is complete.
The Marion Mayhem have been awarded a playoff berth due to the suspension of the Raiders and will play in Saginaw, Michigan versus the Sting on Saturday, June 14 at the DOW Event Center. This is the second straight playoff appearance for the Mayhem as they defeated the Muskegon Thunder in the 2007 CIFL Playoffs.
The entire playoff schedule, teams and locations will be released on Tuesday, June 10. The league championship game and champion will be crowned during the weekend of June 28. The Kalamazoo Xplosion of the Great Lakes Conference have home-field advantage throughout the CIFL Playoffs.

Is it just me or is it funny to see in writing that a league suspended a team for trying to quit.
In the end...didn't they get what they wanted?

A kid skips school repeatedly ... what do they do? Suspend him from school which is exactly what he wanted in the first place. Same deal.

Just a procedural thing. The important part of it was officializing the replacement for Rochester.

Exactly. Just a formal way of saying "the CIFL is moving on," which is exactly what they're doing.
There's enough drama in the league - the Raiders can bring their own bi-polar drama set to the AIFL.

Josh,
You know I love ya but can we let it go with Bob yet? Either that or keep it on the other boards. Thanks.

He's an AIFL issue now, so it'll have to be noted on the good AIFL boards if he does something stupid.

Same league, only a different entity (same way as the Canton Legends, only the Legends didn't change their name when Hoffman took over and started an entire new legal entity) - same issue as the CIFL, really, only the CIFL made the name change without the "oh lord, we gotta get out from under our creditors" thing going on...the entire "GLIFL" thing really didn't make any sense from the get-go with Lehigh Valley and NY/NJ, and then with Chesapeake and New England added it made even less sense. The GLIFL and CIFL operate under the same LLC, in other words - it was *only* a name change there.
