As we strengthen our position, we continue to be asked to provide literature to some of our high profile area companies. Mercy and Aultman Hospital have requested schedules to help entice professionals to our area. When asked what is there to do in Canton if I accept this position... the Canton Legends games are one of the responses given to the future employee as great family entertainment. We are very pleased to be acknowledged by these fine companies who do so much for our community. We compete in the Cleveland and Columbus markets with AFL teams, and are very proud to offer the same competitive environment in Stark County.
As for the football side... we are grateful our guys come ready to play. It is not easy to get up after the rough season we have had, losing six games by less than a touchdown. We have been in about every game and missed a few opportunities to win because we failed to finish. This is sports, and it helps to build character. We have won a championship in 06 and with experienced coaches and a core group of arena veterans we expect to win another championship in 09.
As far as inside the Legends office, we are better now than we have been in a long time. This is a difficult but rewarding business. The pleasure of seeing kids interacting in game day events, getting autographs from players and dance team members or even catching a football is a great experience. We have sent 54 lucky fans home with souvenir footballs in a single game!
It is good to have our players getting a chance to move up and fulfill their desires. The dream begins here with the Legends and ends here in the Professional Football Hall of Fame! Despite the negative press, misquotes and uphill challenges with civic center sponsors, parking, ticket redemption and practice facilities, we continue to get our best advertising from anyone who comes to our games. Organizing just under 200 people per event requires a lot of planning and effort. We are here to stay having had very good meetings and commitments with the City, Chambers of Commerce, Stark County Visitors Bureau, Professional Football Hall of Fame, marketing committees, several very successful businessmen and hundreds of local businesses looking ahead to our 2009 season.
A recently established 501c3, Legends Foundation has been formed to assist K-8 educational programs in our schools. We have received over 150 thank you cards, letters, and notes from various non profit organizations as we pay forward.
We are headed into our fifth season and want everyone to come out to our last home game on Saturday, June 21st, Bikers Night and witness the best kept secret in Canton . The cost of four game day tickets are $40... the cost of a woman catching a football with her cheek... priceless (just kidding, but it was priceless seeing her husband's face after he came up with the football).
Please plan to get your 2009 season tickets for family, friends, employees, and customers so we can continue to do our part in the community.
