Cavs conclude road trip tonight

Win or lose, the outcome will be clearer.
Wyoming plays at New Mexico tonight in the final game of its three-game trip. For the Cavalry and fans, the end of the road trip will hopefully mean the end of statistical problems.
Stats from Wyoming's past two games were not available until earlier this week and American Indoor Football Association officials asked the Cavs to compile the stats from last Saturday's game at Utah.
There should be no question of who scored, or when, after tonight's game.
The Wildcats employ a four-person crew who also handle the statistics at University of New Mexico sporting events.
"I think its fairly complex," Wildcats general manager Steve Mascarenas said. "You have to know what you're looking for. To train people would be difficult. I knew I wouldn't want to handle it or my staff wouldn't want to handle it. Luckily we found some reliable people."
Reliable is an understatement. Mascarenas said some members of his crew have been doing stats for 50 years.
Argeri Layton, Wyoming's director of business operations, said the Wildcats get their stats and video posted in the time frame mandated by the AIFA.
Other teams in the league, including Arizona and Utah, haven't been as reliable.
"The league has been on them since the get go, sending them numerous e-mails and saying 'this is the program, this is what you need to do,'" Layton said.
The Cavs haven't had problems with keeping stats, but they have the advantage of being a veteran franchise compared to the three expansion teams they play.
"There are 1,001 details you have to handle with a new team, and every league is lenient at the beginning because they want them to have success," Layton said. "... We didn't mind doing (stats) for Utah. For us, I want them to have a strong membership and team. If we just need to help with stats, we are willing to do that."
Wyoming coach Dan Maciejczak said the lack of stats hasn't been a major problem. Maciejczak has complained about getting hand-written stats, but admits he isn't big on stats and rarely knows who scored after games.
"The only thing they do is -- at the end of the games, when we are way ahead -- is make sure that everyone has scored a touchdown," Maciejczak said. "Besides that, I don't really care. ... As long as we are winning -- have more points than they do -- I'm okay with it."
Based on how Wyoming has dominated all season, Maciejczak will probably keep ignoring the stats until the end of the game.
n BEST IN THE AIFA: At 8-0 entering today's game, Wyoming is the only undefeated team remaining in the AIFA.
"I don't care," Maciejczak said. "I'm glad that we've won every game we've played so far, but we're jockeying for (playoff) position. Right now we are on top of the leaderboard. We need to get this win against New Mexico, and then get one at home against Arizona."
Maciejczak said he will rest players down the stretch of the season if the team is undefeated and there are no playoff implications involved.
n SHORT BREAK: The Cavs have time on their side tonight because the Wildcats had a shortened schedule this week. New Mexico lost to Arizona on Tuesday, now must quickly bounce back and play again.
"To go in and play Arizona, then to have to turn around and play us, I would say fatigue might be an issue for them," Maciejczak said.
The Cavs have a full week between games after beating Utah 73-13 last Saturday.
n INJURY REPORT: The Cavs have just one major injury going into today's game.
Offensive lineman Chase Olsen has a torn meniscus in his knee.
"Chase is the only injury we have right now and we'll know on Monday or Tuesday if he can finish the season or if they have to go in and clean that up, then that means he'll miss a couple of weeks," Maciejczak said.
