Cavs overcome slow start to stay perfect
By the Star-Tribune staff
The slow start didn't last long for Wyoming.
The Cavalry rested most of the week leading up to Saturday's game at Utah and consequently the team came out flat.
Luckily for the Cavs it took them just a few possessions to come alive in their 73-13 victory against the Saints.
Utah scored the first touchdown, then Wyoming matched it and took a one-point lead after the two-point conversion. The Saints scored another touchdown, but this time missed the extra-point attempt. Those would prove to be Utah's last points.
Wyoming (8-0) got back to form and cruised to the victory, the team's fourth against Utah (0-8) this season.
"I don't think we had any dominant performances," Wyoming coach Dan Maciejczak said. "Once again, offensively we did a good job of spreading the ball around, and our defense forced the quarterback to make bad decisions and got some turnovers."
The game was the second of a three-game road trip for the Cavs. Wyoming plays New Mexico on Saturday before returning to the Casper Events Center on May 30 for a game against Arizona.
Statistics were not available for Saturday's game or the Cavs' previous game against Arizona on May 11.
"It was pretty basic," Maciejczak said. "We went there, beat them and came home. Now we have to prepare for New Mexico."
