Special to the Courier

PRESCOTT VALLEY - After getting riddled for 283 yards and six touchdowns through the air by Wyoming on Sunday, the Adrenaline have signed a defensive back who head coach Andrew Moore feels can make an immediate impact.
Odell Jackson, a 24-year-old cornerback who played collegiately at Portland State, has joined the team and is expected to be in uniform when Arizona travels to New Mexico on Tuesday.
"He's a smart player and can be very physical," Moore said of Jackson, who stands 5-feet-11 and weighs 185. "Our secondary is an area that needed to be addressed, and we feel that Odell is a guy who can bring a lot to the defense and to the team overall."
Jackson, who grew up in Long Beach, Calif., was a starter at Portland State from the middle of his freshman season until graduating in 2006 with a degree in communications.
He was named All-Big Sky three years in a row and had 11 interceptions during that span.
Jackson has had tryouts with the Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League as well as the Los Angeles Avengers and San Jose SaberCats of Arena1.
This will be his first stop professionally, and his first indoor football experience.
"I feel like I can get physical and make some hard hits, but I also like to be on the corner and man-up and make some interceptions," Jackson said. "I like getting after the ball. I know indoor is a quicker game, but I feel like I'm catching on pretty fast. There's so much passing in indoor that, as a defensive back, it seems like you're involved in just about every play."
The Adrenaline (5-2) are ranked seventh in the 16-team AIFA in passing yards allowed and have given up 13 TDs through the air in their two losses to Wyoming.
Arizona did not make a single defensive stop in Sunday's loss, despite forcing Wyoming into fourth-down situations on three different occasions.
"You look at our offense and we've got Q (Quincy Jackson), Mo B. (Maurice Bryant) and Chad (DeGrenier) all in the top five in the stats," Jackson said. "It's a high-powered offense. I just want to bring some tenacity to our defense and help us get some stops."
