MudCats Announce Military Appreciation Night
(Tupelo, MS) The Mississippi MudCats of the American Indoor Football Association
will be back in action this Saturday night the 17th at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo, when they host their division rival, the Columbus Lions from Columbus, GA. As the MudCats defend their undefeated 2008 season, they will be hosting Military Appreciation Night in honor of all Military personnel.
After last’s weeks high octane win of 70 to 61 over the Lions at Columbus, GA., the MudCats host the Lions at home this week in a back-to-back match-up. “Both teams
have had a chance to get in the film room and make any necessary adjustments” said
Co-Offensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel Coach Kirk Broussard,
adding that “I look for this week to be more of a chess match between the coaching
staffs, and our players will definitely be fired up to defend their home field.”
In honor of our men and women now serving or who have served their country, the MudCats are rewarding all Military personnel with a complimentary ticket to their game this Saturday night, May 17, 2008 at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. A valid Military ID must be presented at the box office window in order to receive the ticket. Current MudCat owner Jim Waide is a Marine and served in the Vietnam War. “It’s important to me that this organization support these men and women and show our thanks for serving our country. Each and every one of them is important, and we want to show them that the MudCats are behind them,” Waide said.
The Tailgate Party begins at 4:00PM and will feature the band 4Evermore with face painting, a rock climbing wall, bounce house, and other fun activities for kids. The party will also include complimentary snacks and beverages. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a free 8x10 autographed photo of a MudCats Football player.
The doors open to the arena at 6PM with the pre game activities beginning at 6:30PM.
This week’s inspirational speaker will be The Rev. Henry Shelton, a Mississippi native
and former pastor of St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo. During his tenure, Rev. Shelton oversaw an unprecedented period of growth in the parish, before his retirement earlier this year. Updated information on the MudCats can be found on their website at www.mississippimudcats.com.
