Hi Everyone,
NFL Fantasy Football is very popular in this part of the south. It gives the average fan a reason to watch all the games and a chance to really get involved in the sport. Living here in South Carolina all my life Ive loved watching football put in over seventeen years in high school football, three in arena football and have owned two Fantasy football franchises in the Greenwood SC Division.
The Johnston Generals have won three championships in a league of five hundred teams.
For those of you who have never played ill be writing instructions on how to assemble a league, when to draft, how to play. and other things with in the next several weeks. We take this very seriously here have media guides, keep stats , have team logos, shirts, and have actual franchises your league can be simple or as complex as ours thats up to you.
When 1-10 Miami is playing 3-8 Atlanta and you are starting the Atlanta quarterback you will be glued to the set watching him hoping for that touchdown pass that you need for those extra three points to win.
This is fun

First and fore most think Kickers - at least by round 3 of the draft are you will be cooked. Kickers and Running backs are like gold. Think teams with bad offenses that love field goals or score massive points.

We draft the following
2 Quarterbacks 4 Running Backs 4 wide outs 2 Tight ends 2 Defensive teams 2 coaches 2 Kickers
Kicker scores 1 point for extra point 3 points for field goal and 1 extra point for 50 plus yard field goal
If a tight end, wideout catches a touchdown pass he gets 3 points If he runs one in he gets 6 points
If your coach wins you get one point if he losses you get nothing
A quarterback can get three points for touchdown pass or six points for running one in
A running back gets 3 points for a touchdown pass and 6 points for touchdown 2 points for a 2 point conversion
If your defense returns a INT for touchdown you get 6 points and 2 for safety
If there is a tie at the end of all this the kicker with the longest field goal wns

2 tightends is way too many....90% of the tightends in fantasy football are useless...and forcing teams to start 2 kickers is just as bad. I've never been involved with drafting coaches but based on your scoring system you have to waste draft slots on a guy that at most can get you ONE point a week. That's kind of lame. Now maybe if you got a point for every point his team scored in RL...we might be onto something here.

no
We start
1 Quarterback 2 running backs 2 wide outs 1 Tightend 1 Kicker 1 team defense
and the tiebreaker is the coach

As for tightends the whole time Ive played I think Ive got about 18 points off of them all together so not a very productive area.

Tight ends are never taken until the 15th, 16th, 17th, rounds coaches taken in last two rounds mostly. Another word of advice if you are a huge fan of Pittsburgh dont take all Steelers for example.
1) Because they will have a off week together and youll have to start your second string players are waste a trade just to fill holes.
2) If your favorite teams flops you will flop
Words to live by from somebody who already has my depth charts up

So when does this start? I would like to get involved. How does defensive scoring work?

You draft players after the final cut you use the preseason to look at talent, you also grab every magazine you can find and any material you can study to decide whats the best players to draft. Once you have all this you get together with friends form a league and draft players. Im considering all of us getting a league together we will see.
Defense - scores occurs when a team defense gets a safety, returns a fumble, or interception for a touchdown
Also forgot to say earlier if your running back runs in a two point after attempt that counts as 2 or your wideout catches a two point attempt he gets 2 also.

Ill probably be doing a draft outline of the potential draft shortly and will be posting it here.
From time to time I may ask my good friend from Columbia to share with us his insights on here. He has 7 championships and is a league of 5000 and has drafted dead last and won his last one picking 10th.
