porter should check a few of his facts... hoffman bought the team around xmas '05, after the first season. he writes that he bought them in '04 when they didn't even exist yet.
took over 4 years ago? it's barely even been 3 years todd...
but he did hit the nail on the head with the lack of advertising/publicity, as well as the "hangers-on" aspect instead of the league grooming future stars. and by interviewing the invaders former owner and not hoffman for the piece, he's pretty much administering the legends' last rites...

I agree ... this team is the living dead.

I have a 4yr old son and some of the best times are going to the games together. He loves giving the players high fives, and someday he says he hopes to be like them. Sometimes its not just for the sake of putting together a winning team. Its sometimes about the time spent watching and escaping the everyday grind for a while. If the Legends do fold, or leave, I myself will be upset that I'll miss the times me and my son have had, and could've had. www.printroom.com/gallerythumb16/132962/20080317013740123056.JPG

I really do. My sons are 17 & 16. My 16yr old is autistic (so, he's about 4 mentally) and also loves giving the players high fives. The Legends players over the last three years have been simply awesome to him and I am grateful that he has had this opportunity to feel like part of the team. When JoJo Polk returned a couple of weeks ago with the Speed, he recognized JoJo. He was trying to give the Speed high fives but they weren't responding until JoJo "straightened them out" so to speak. The players all know him and all try to include him as much as they can. The organization tries to include him as well. I have been fortunate and will always remember the good times with the Legends. Indoor football in Canton is not dead ... just the Legends.

The thing about the Legends, is that in a way, they will be legends.
Won a league title. Lasted four seasons (making it past year 2 is brutal).
Like the Ohio Valley Greyhounds, they will be a fond memory when the recentness of the events give way to articles, banners, magnets, jerseys, programs, etc.
Similar to the Stampede. As much as I hated how the team went under, I still enjoy knowing Steubenville HAD a team and that I HAD good memories of it.
