First of all it is really interesting how utfan can make false statements out of his......... and most of you guys, not all, but most buy into it as gospel??? What he sounds like to me is a wantabe that couldn't cut it at this level and was cut from the squad. If it is truth that you seek for, then I will share it with you.
Here are some interesting facts about the Utah Saints and all teams and leagues at this level: #1 they are an expansion team, do any of you really understand what that means?? Perhaps not, but a team does not start out of the gate as a league champion, which Wyoming may end up becoming this year and they would deserve it if you look at their 8 year history of the struggles and scrafices by their owners and management over the years and by their loyal fans. My hat is off to these people who want to be a part of something that support the dreams of players, coaches and officials and they are willing to give them a helping hand to get there. They are also good people who believe in building something they can be proud of, not tearing down people or organizations. Should we tear down and destroy all teams and organizations that are in the AIFA and other leagues like them that have less than a 500% percent win average?? Say good bye to your league because it won't last long.
Some on this message board are real fans of the game and want to help the league and the teams within it and enjoy this level of inexpensive entertainment in comparison to spending large sums of money that the average man can't afford in major professional teams in various sports. Others have nothing better to do than tear down teams and people with libelous statements because their lives are not what they wanted them to be and they are miserable. On these boards they puff themselves up as experts and get the attention that perhaps their mother or father did not give them when they were growing up, this makes them feel good.............something very wrong with people like that.
Psychology 101!
Fact # 2 This league, and many leagues like them now and before, are just development leagues, no more no less. Don't make them out to be more than what they really are. Many have come and gone because of cancerous people like these so called experts, crying babies that we give an ear to. Other reasons have been because of the egos of the league owners and team owners that can't do this for the love of the game like the true fan supports these teams and leagues.
Fact # 3 The Utah Saints had their head coach quit 19 days before their first game because his father is fighting cancer and now he learned that his brother has cancer as well. Yes he should have given the team more notice, but can any one of you feel good about yourselves by judging this coach?? I think not.
Fact # 4 Then the defensive coach sends an email to the owner 17 days later and says he is quitting because his friend the head coach has quit and he doesn't want to coach without him. Then he proceeds to take his defense with him to a gang bang semi-pro summer league where lives of players are threatend in the parking lot after the game and you never know who you are playing against, where a lot of players don't even give their real name because they have something to hide or want to be open to perpetrate an illegal hit to purposely injure a player they dislike during the game without accountability.
Fact # 5 This was a good thing for the Utah Saints because they have no place playing with honest quality players playing for the love of the game, not the money, that want to better themselves and show off their legitimate football talent.
Fact # 6 The Utah Saints head coach now, who was the assistant head before this mess was thrown in his lap had been given hardly any info. from the previous head coach or defensive coach, players names, phone numbers etc. He had to start all from scatch, looking for players to compete at this level and try to bring them together as a team etc.
Fact #7 When the Utah Saints played the Wyoming Cavalry at home they used this garbage ball from the AIFA that is so slick and cheap you can't even imagine. They had 9 fumbles from the center to the QB, the Wyoming offense only scored two legitimate touchdowns all game. The Wyoming QB was smart and wore Cutters gloves all night. Utah Saints take note, when playing with a garbage slippery ball use Cutters gloves.......hmmmmm.
Fact # 8 The Utah Saints vs the New Mexico Wildcats chose to use the AIFA 2007 Baden ball which is a great ball and the same center and QB had zero fumbles and the Utah Saints played 200% better than in the Wyoming game. The Utah Saints lead all night by 10, 11 points until the end of the game. The Wildcats were lucky to come out of there with a win, especially when two of their touchdowns were tipped up balls that two of their players said "where did that gift come from" and ran them into the endzone.
Fact # 9 The Utah Saints played a great game last saturday night against a much better team than the rest of you guys give credit to. The Utah Saints will come up and surprize the Wyoming Cavalry this Saturday and give them a really good game for a
first year team. The Saints are starting to gel as a real team and are going to be a lot tougher to beat. You want better competition then hold on to your season tickets and hope the Saints don't catch up with the Cavalry too soon because you might not like the outcome.
Fact # 10 Granted the Utah Saints owner is not as rich as the rest of some of the other teams in the league, but he has been honest to his current coach, the players and all his previous coaches that backed out and is building his team with fiscal responsibility and will complete his season as promised and will build to make his team financially stronger next year with much more sponsor support. What he tried to do was run his Utah Indoor Football League in it's 9th season, start a new never before seen Utah Youth Indoor Football league in the State of Utah and start the Utah Saints all at the same time, with very little help from others. His Youth league has been successful some might say with about 400 boys in the program, they have marketed the Utah Saints to these boys and their familes and are starting to get a good turn out from them. He has also marketed the Saints to his Men's Indoor League and their support has just started to come in. The Saints have also distributed 4000 buy one get one free tickets in the mail to current Indoor football fans, players and families, and are currently working on a deal to give away numerous single tickets to Clear Channel radio stations here in the Salt Lake Valley. Sponors have started to sign on and they are increasing every day. Utah has paid all of it's bills and has taken care of both visiting teams hotel, food and misc. expensives. Utah has 3 away games now and a month to build up attendance before their next home game and their marketing is in very capable professional hands. As far as volunteers, hell ask all the other teams and see how much of their work is done by volunteers, it is quite a bit. Utah has gathered a great staff now of volunteers who are helping because of the love of the game like many other volunteers from the Wyoming Cavalry have been doing for 8 years now. The website is being upgraded every day and in a week will go to an enhanced flash version website that will be much more professional. So Utah will make it and will be very competitive as they were against New Mexico, unless you want to tear them down too and then you have no Western division in the AIFA.
Fact # 11 Did you see that the UIF just bought out the asset rights to the Colorado Ice. What does that mean?
I think we all know. What good does it do to make a big splash in a big pond only to go belly up with the rest of many Indoor teams in the boneyard?? You people have to take your egos and secret agendas somewhere else and let the players, coaches, management and owners who do this for the love of the game, come together and build one another into a sound organization together, in this case it does take a village of good people from various surrounding cities to make it all happen for everyone. United we stand, divided we fall.
