I don't see the team value of any team in this league being 300k. I'm talking about tangible value. The only high dollar tangible items that Canton has are the turf, wall pads, equipment.

ok, i just have to add my 2 cents here. where to begin? first of all, i have been a fan of the legends since season 1 in 2005. there is absolutely no way anyone with any common sense would pay 300k for a minor league sports franchise. especially a franchise that has yet to win a game this season. anytime the legends are promoted on-air or in print, mr hoffman continues to remind fans and media of the 2006 season. which im sure if you are a fan you know the adversity that the team had to overcome that year. refering to the damage done by A. H. since then, attendance has dropped and fan involvement at games is a joke. lets not forget the dance team. they are just as important to the franchise as the players and yet the preformances or should i say, lack of, is lack luster. as for the players, i was under the impression that there was a rule regaurding uniforms. what i mean by that, if anyone was at the game on saturday night, the legends players had uncoordinating socks. i know that sounds petty, but when you look at a team and players are wearing black socks, maroon socks and even no socks, what does that say about the organization.
so i have to ask, to the fans, players, dance team members, front office, and potential buyers, is anyone really that STUPID to purchase a team that is in such disarray?? the ebay add states that everything is in place from players, field, dance team to front office staff ect...call me crazy but shouldnt a front office have more than just a sales manager?

Wow! Way to step into the box and swing for the fences! I'm probably going to get crucified for this post, but here goes anyway. Let me respond to your post which, BTW, 90% of it I agree with. I hate the fact that we keep promoting ourselves as the 2006 National Champions. That was fine in 2007, but it's done. BTW, what was so "National" about the second year AIFL? A new champ was crowned so let it go already. I, also, have been a fan since 2005 and I understand exactly what has happened in '05, '06, '07 and now '08. Yes, a lot of bridges was burned by AH. Joe Hoffman repaired some of those bridges and made some fairly good decisions that year. He listened to advice and stuck with the people that advised him. Not so sure that is the case today. Next up, and this is the only point that I really disagree with you about, the dance team is not as important as the players. I've never seen a dance team member hauled off the field on a stretcher. They think they are the show, but they are not. As a matter of fact, I would like to eliminate the dance team all together and put some local talent on the field for those spots. Dance teams, in my experience, are way too much drama and not worth the headaches. Uniforms ... truthfully, I hadn't really noticed, but I take your word for it. Just tells me that details are no longer important to the leadership of the franchise. Are you sure there is a sales manager in the front office? The front office staff consists of unpaid interns, volunteers and the owner. Lastly, the problems revolve around the fact that the administration's priorities are completely out of order. Let's face it ... game day is your showcase day. You need to make damn sure that the opponents and the officials are taken care of with everything that is due them and on time. To get a great reputation, you don't stop at the minimum, go the extra step. I wouldn't challenge any official's integrity, but the fact is that, subconsciously, if you treat them very well before the game, you are more likely to get the close call. Then, once the doors open, the fans are your top priority, period. Currently, the fan base is taken for granted. The organization continually promises fans promotions, opportunities and premiums. When the time comes to deliver on those promises, they can't or won't. Then the unpaid staff sits around for hours and wonders why we can't put butts in the seats. Everything you do from the time the gates open until the autograph session is over should be to make that fan's experience the best it can be ... period. If this franchise is sold, it would be the best thing to happen to it since we won the championship in '06.

I have my fingers crossed that everything works out for Canton. They are one of the last charter members from year one.

There is nothing wrong with the legends that somebody with enough money can't fix

just to comment on what "the man the myth" said. joe did was not the one to fix the problems created by A.H. it was the hard work and dedication of his front office staff that repaired the burnt bridges. and as far as front office staff this year, i would have to call mr. skelly the sales manager. granted he may only be on commission but he would still have to be called full time staff. correct me if im wrong. and you cannot make a franchise work with only volenteers.
and i have to disagree with you about the dance team. they are there to provide entertainment for the fans, just as the players are.
and pic man, money cant always fix whats wrong.
bottom line is joe needs to realize that he bit off more than he can chew.
i could go on and on, but i think that i will save a little bit for another time.

Cantonfan37, believe me all this team need is the money to fix the problem we have. If you have the money you can pay to have a front office and not have volunteers doing what a paid staff should. Also with money you could properly advertise this team in the papers and radio and you might be able to draw more than 1200 per game. I do agree Joe is trying to do to much which fall in with my comment if he had the money to run the team right he wouldn't have to be trying to do everthing himself

picman, just because somebody has money, doesn't mean they want to part with it.
Marketing, marketing, marketing.
That's steps 1 through 3. Steps 4 and on are treating the fans to the best show their money can buy on game day.
I went to several games in Canton in '06, '07, and once in '08.
This year's game (atmosphere, etc) sucked. It had hardly any life to it. The fans seemed bored. And then when they did get into the game, the refs take away the excitement of a great finish by calling them game final when most fans assumed there was one more play left (Carolina).
'06 was easily the best year for games I went to (Stampede, Express, and Silverbacks).
Despite winning a title, nothing's improved.
That's sad. And that's why I personally don't think the Legends, in their current form at least, will be here next year.

I agree money isn't everything you still have to use it right, but you can't do steps 1-3 without it. now step 4 you don't need to have it to treat the fans right but it helps. because when your staff isn't pissed because they aren't getting what they should they will work better and things will run more smoothly. In minor leagues like this the most important thing is money, the second is having the right people in the right jobs to make it all work

i wonder if the cifl group can be convinced to at least keep the color scheme the same for the canton bulldogs... there's no other team around using those colors in that league.
