Yes, it was a small crowd. Being a Thursday night had something to do with it. I expect the crowds to pick up as the season progresses. The same thing happened with the previous indoor teams in the area. BTW, got a closet full of old Stallions and Spartans shirts, if anyone's interested... Got to get me some Colts shirts! Got game video of any Stallions games? I got a 2000 Stallions roadie (large #92) I'll gladly swap. It's too big for me.

I used to have some Stallions video clips, but those were deleted long ago.

Attendance in Augusta for the person who posted above last season was 5900 opening night with 1200 outside and couldnt get in. So no attendance wasnt light last year.
Yes, the game being on Thursday had something to do with it among other things in addition to tickets being sold only a few days before gametime.
Attendance will pickup over the next several games this is a trend that we have seen with teams all over Augusta. Plus advertising and community involvement will start kicking in soon.
So the crowds will start returning soon. Hockey, Baseball also take their share of the fans to.
For the record Augusta led the former league in attendance with average of 4700 for the season.

The great thing about OUR opening night numbers versus what's their names from last year? Ours were paying fans through the gate instead of the 3K-4K freebie tickets given away to each game last year.

Giveaways aren't all bad, especially for an opening game. You've got to get people in somehow, and with limited advertisting budgets at this level, what better way to get people in and get them hooked on the game than to just give them a ticket?
Now it shouldn't be a long term answer, but it's not a bad way to start. Heck, the first indoor football game I went to, I went because my brother won tickets and invited me to go with him. The rest, as they say, is history.

Yea, the first two arena games I ever attended with the Augusta Stallions were in giveaway tickets given to me by a family friend who won them on the radio. They were given away on a call in sports show that plugged the team for thirty minutes worth of ads doing the show.
