Ripping on someone's city is akin to ripping on someone's mom, you only take offense if deep down in your heart you know part of it is true. i've lived near pittsburgh, i've lived near baltimore, never canada, and none of them come close to the women of NC, especially the area of Chapel Hill. good weather = fit and tan women. oh the memories!

Sorry if I came off a little strong, but I dont tolerate people bad mouthing my town. Usually its people that have never been there that talk the most crap. I do have a sense of humor but an unsolicited cut on my town does not go over well. And if you say you were in Pittsburgh but left unimpressed, then you really didnt get to experience the town. For some strange reason a lot of pro athletes choose to stay here even after they retire or move on to other teams. It has one of the best hospital systems in the world (UPMC), it has one of the best technological universities in the country (Carnegie Mellon) and has seven major Universities in town. The night life is great and the Sports team rival any and all. Sorry but I take great pride in my town and I will defend it no matter what the venue. I guess that episode of "Cops" i watched from Pittsburgh was a figment of my imagination. lol. Anyways, in the Top 25 list of the Most Dangerous cities Pittsburgh is not listed. Yea i know, i found that weird too? ;D However, Baltimore is ranked at #12. Baltimore also gets additional similar props and you can see them here: www.morganquitno.com/cit07pop.htm#25My fair city of Reading is ranked 21st out of 371 cities. Ouch Well, since we are all bragging about our respective cities, I'd like to mention that last time I checked Baltimore was in the top 5 for most murders. (ENGAGE HUMOR MODE NOW) But that's OK, we're "shooting" for number one baby. WOOOO HOOOO, all the way to the top. (DISENGAGE HUMOR MODE)

Mdindoorfan, I have been racking my head trying to think of a name for the dance team, but I have never been known as being all that creative. Hence the whole MORE COWBELL thing. Anyway, your Mermaids idea is GREAT, imho. I hope you have submitted it. No I didn't..I am in a wait and see mode with the new team to be honest but please submit it.

Come on guys! Mermaids? No way! Have some culture. Did you ever read the Odyssey by Homer? Remember the Sirens? The beautiful women who sang the enchanting songs that hypnotized the sea-set Odysseus and his men? The dance team needs to be The Sirens.

Send me your info and I'll enter it under your name. As it is, if it ends up being the Mermaids, we know who to give credit to.

Mermaids is okay but generic. I am telling you, if the team is named the mermaids, there will be "I SMELL FISH" comments thrown out toward the girls. "The Sirens" is the way to go. In The Odyssey they are portrayed as beautiful women with entrancing songs who would hypnotize their targets with beautiful songs. They would then clilmb aboard ships and rob the men.
The dance team can in theory hypnotize the Mariners opponents with their entrancing dance moves, allowing the Mariners to steal the game.

The Sirens is the name of the Port Huron team so it wouldn't be original. The Lady this and lady that gets over used...teams need to be more original IMO. Though Mariners is pretty generic..lol I guess it is better then Steamers though, funny to see the dance team doing the "itchy dance" at halftime...

The guy in the Shirley Temple dress is telling US to have some culture?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? OMG!! Why don't you just break into a chorus of GOOD SHIP LOLLIPOP! You guys could record it and use it as the Mariners Touch Down Song!

Bay ladies might work too..though I think that is a name of a soccer team around here and also the name of the harbor cruise ship. Here is why Sirens wouldn't work...first time you start balrring a siren in the arena to announce thier presence I can see people automatically lining up aginst the wall palms pressed
