how bout this: good luck in the aifa baltimore mariners or steamers. and for that matter, if any other team in this league is starting to turn a buck, look out because you could be the next blackbirds of the league. The league will lean on you financially and let other teams rip you off until you leave/get kicked out. Good luck fellas.

For what it may be worth, here is my take on this. In most sports, teams do not make their money on road trips. Usually there is no profit sharing of the gate receipts. Is it different in the AIFA? Do teams "normally" get a piece of the gate for a road game? I'm asking because I don't know the answer, but I don't think that is the norm. If I am wrong, I will have to rethink, but if I am correct, then the Blackbirds arguement doesnt seem to hold water.

Last that I knew. Regular season road games did not give away teams any part of the gate. But, as in Baltimore Blackbirds being a road team for the most part, it could have been a special circumstance. Only time I heard of gate share was during playoffs and/or championship game. But that was year two.

good point. I respect that. Here is the thing, the only thing i need to prove this is the date of a website registered to a baltimore organization known as the 'steamers' in f'ing 2006. What the heck would make mr. co-owner/crapface dudeman register that site before the bbs were in existance? Was he going to open up a crabbing company? no sir mr. reamer. What else proof would I need? I don't have a way to get the ideas from his head. this was a plan and it was carried out by the ones at the top. Let me know what other proof you need and I'll tell you if it's possible to get it.

But that was year two. OK, that is what I was thinking. Of course we have no way to prove or disprove if there was a road game gate share deal struck or not back when the team was only going to have two or three home games, but I would think that once the Blackbirds ended up getting pretty much a full compliment of home games, the original deal (if it existed) would then be null and void.

As long as M&M have anything to do with this league there will always be a team in Baltimore. I was just merely stating that a good business decision was made on there part in advance of what happen regardless of what there planes were.
Ruining a business as big as this league is and as spread out as it is can not be an easy task for anyone, and looking to the future is a big part of it. They could have put a team of there own any where they wanted with any name they wanted.
With new teams in the league and planning a Championship game and all-star game the decision to let someone else "pay the bills" might have been a better option for them at the time. And now the city still has a team in the AIFA thanks to there planning.[/quote]

REPOST: I think Mink and Morris wanted to have a team in Baltimore. I think they had started the process to finance a team in Baltimore on their own. Another team owner then applied and Mink and Morris thought... "Even better. We get a team in Baltimore and we do not have to finance it". Who would spend their own money if someone else is willing to pay the bill? Things did not work out for the Blackbirds in this league. It is an unfortunate thing, but it happens. Now sure Morris and Mink understand that this market is a great football market. That is why they were planning on a team to play here since the league inception. They will run it on their own this season. I do not think they are doing this for money. I think this first season for the new team will be a financial loss as it was for the Blackbirds.
It appears to many bong hits has clouded your memory bmore, so I reposted my previous comment addressing your "concerns". Now of course it is all speculation, and the only ones who know the truth will not talk publicly about it, as they shouldn't be expected to. But this is the best I could come up with.

i agree with dr. girly-skort. The only ones that can verify it, 100% for certain is tweedle-dee and tweedle-dumber. and why in the heck would they come out and say 'yeah, we wanted to see how they do, but we forced them out by taking a huge #2 on them because we thought we could do better in bmore.' Don't need a PR guy to print that one up, do we? my thingk is, beware other teams in this league, becuase you could be the next one. that's all. oh, and bmorerocks baby

that sounded like a caveman geico commercial. And I bet Mr. Morris and Mr. Mink would gladly come out and tell you what really happen. Besides it was told in a press release
