...This old joke would work perfectly!
there was a pirate ship and Captain Black Toes was in charge. One day while at sea, his 2nd in charge came over to him and said " captain captain, there is another pirate ship out there what do you want us to do?" black toes replies. " Jimbo, get me my red shirt" so Jimbo fetches his red shirt and Black Toes puts it on and they fight for hours and win a fantastic arduous battle. Exhausted they all sit down and enjoy a wonderful meal together celebrating their victory. One of the men says how wonderful it was they won but wanted to know why Black Toes wore the red shirt. Black Toes replies," well if i had of kept my shirt on and was stabbed or shot the blood would of shown up and you would of been affraid and start to panic and loose the battle, but because it was red you continued to fight." "ahhh Yes very good they reply" A few weeks later they are at sea again, and Jimbo approaches Black Toes. "Sir, there is 10 pirate ships gathering towards us, what shall we do" Black Toes replies," Jimbo, get me my brown pants."!!!!

Look at the date it was registered!! It was registered in July of 2006! Why?
The Mariners name was registered last week, I can understand that.

Um... Because they wanted to use it at a later time. I do not necessarily care if they chose their own name as a finalist for their "contest". If you are going to try to fit this into your conspiracy theory about how AIFA just used the Blackbirds then I do not want to hear it.

So it can be used at a later time?? That makes no sense and you know it.
First swing was a miss, open your eyes this time and take another hack at it.

Also, and correct me if I am wrong on this... Didn't the Blackbirds join the AIFA months after the date that name (The Steamers) was registered? Maybe John Morris and Mike Mink had plans to put a team in Baltimore on their own prior to Alexander Austin and the Baltimore Blackbirds. For one reason or another, and continue to speculate all you want, the Blackbirds and AIFA were just not compatible. The name the Steamers was already registered, so might as well do something with it.

It was registered before the Blackbirds applied to the AIFA. I do not care what your stupid theories are regarding conspiracies of the league. Crap happens. Deal with it. If you do not want anything to do with the new team, then why are you here?

looks to me that they knew what was coming. There fore they know what they are doing with the league. So try you sad song somewhere else.

I don't know about that Grim. I think Mink and Morris wanted to have a team in Baltimore. I think they had started the process to finance a team in Baltimore on their own. Another team owner then applied and Mink and Morris thought... "Even better. We get a team in Baltimore and we do not have to finance it". Who would spend their own money if someone else is willing to pay the bill? Things did not work out for the Blackbirds in this league. It is an unfortunate thing, but it happens. Now sure Morris and Mink understand that this market is a great football market. That is why they were planning on a team to play here since the league inception. They will run it on their own this season. I do not think they are doing this for money. I think this first season for the new team will be a financial loss as it was for the Blackbirds.
