Semi good news from the Blackbirds front: The players and coaching staff have received word that they will be receiving their paychecks on September 1st. It is still bothersome that things went down like this, but I have to remind myself that this is a start-up team and as in any new business, there are going to be some problems. It is just a bit upsetting that those players went out there, played hard, took physical beatings that resulted in a few of them being sidelined (expected in football of course) and after leaving it all on the field, they get shafted when pay day rolls along.
I love the Blackbirds. They helped me with my withdrawal symptoms when my Baltimore Ravens ended their Superbowl run rather abruptly in the second round of the playoffs. I will continue to support this team and the management. I think AIFA offers a fantastic package. Easy on the wallet and filled with excitement. I just shiver to think that the carpet might be yanked out from under me after only 1 or 2 seasons.
So I beg the owners of the team and management...PLEASE!!!! Please get things straightened out. I do not want to have to go to Reading for my indoor football fix.

Oh, I did not mean any disrespect toward Reading. I like the team a lot. I am just preparing myself for a rivalry if Baltimore moves to the north.

I am going to be working on the Baltimore fan club. It is on hold right now to see how this off-season pans out. No sense in spending the money in starting a NPO only to have the organization fall to crap due to... well... the team falling to crap. I am gonna wait to see if this off-season drama fizzles out before proceeding.

Morris and Mink can't even take care of the teams they own, specifically Montgomery, because they are too busy trying to make everyone else look good. Coaches still have not been payed and they are talking about expansion. Why not expand the bank account to their own team. I will give them credit though if you do not have a strong mind they can make you believe what they are saying is true. I saw it with my own eyes this year as they manipulated players, fans, sponsors and the only office person we had. Once they saw I was not falling for they "whitewash" I was all of a sudden "blackballed"....

I am not going to slam the league/league owners. I am sure that bad judgment and mistakes are being made. They are trying to build a competitive league. I do not know what happens behind the scenes. I am not a business owner and have never had to deal with the balancing act that comes with the territory. I am sure it is stressful. I wish the league and teams all the best. I also want to thank the league for giving the city of Baltimore a chance. The Blackbirds and AIFA were simply not compatible.
At least now I can root for Reading in the upcoming season! Make room on the bandwagon folks... i am jumping on!
