The Baltimore Blackbirds Announce 2007 Inaugural Season
Baltimore, Maryland-December 19, 2006--The Baltimore Blackbirds are a Professional Indoor Football Team based in Baltimore Maryland. They are a member of the American Indoor Football Association, and will play their home games at the 1st Mariner Arena.
Alexander Austin, owner of the Baltimore Blackbirds was born and raised in Washington D.C. He attended Towson University after leaving Towson Alexander continued his efforts in Professional Football-with the NFL, CFL, NIFL and IFL. Austin pursued a career in Real Estate as an Investor, and formed the Company Austin Development Group, LLC. Austin Development Group, LLC, based in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is a Maryland based Real Estate Company who maintains an aggressive portfolio primarily in and around the Washington D.C.-Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Austin Development Group expanded it’s growth into the Pro-sports Arena by entering into the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) The Company’s goal is to bring Pro-Indoor Football to Baltimore, provide an excellent opportunity for local talent who have the skills and a chance to play professional football and to have a great impact in the community in and around the city.
Coach Coleman, a former professional athlete and graduate of Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida has been chosen as the Head Coach/General Manager/Defensive Coordinator of the Baltimore Blackbirds. Coach Coleman pursued his college education at Bethune Cookman, Daytona, Florida. Coleman states, “I have been blessed with the opportunity to become an athlete and later a coach. In doing so, I accumulated extensive experience and history. The experience has benefited me both, on and off of the field. The wisdom and knowledge earned motivates me to live vicariously through future athletes. In addition to strategizing, I plan to utilize tools such as: positive praise, nutrition, education, excellent communication, organizational skills, competent leadership, objectivity, determination, self-discipline and faith in order to collaboratively build a winning team.” Coleman was personally mentored by former NFL player Tom Herter, a Retiree, Washington Redskins, HR Savonni, Minnesota Vikings, Larry Little, Retiree, Miami Dolphins, and many others. Coach Coleman accepted autonomy and organized a non-profit whose overall mission is to target troubled youth in order to afford each child an opportunity to succeed.
In addition to announcing the 2007 Inaugural Season the Blackbirds proudly announce their “in progress” Toy and Food Drive for needy families.
The Blackbirds are recruiting local college football players, semi-pro football players and those who inspire to play professional football for the Upcoming 2007 Season.
