www.djournal.com/pages/archive.asp?ID=242030&pub=1&div=SportsAbove is a link on another good article that appeared in Monday's Daily Journal. I love the fact the Cats are building for the future here in Tupelo, and I believe our owner is following through with the idea of letting the fans own a part of the team. Way to go Front Office. Go Cats!

$500,000 is a bit steep. They must be including everyday expenses and salaries.

One thing in that article that really turned me off was the mention of affiliating and becoming a "Farm team". As a former Reading Royals season ticket holder i can tell ya that theres nothing more frustrating, from a fans perspective, then to have your best players called up at playoff time. For instance, this season, the Royals led the league in callups, thus contributing to them NOT making the playoffs at all. The way i see it, our players have plenty of opportunity to move up without their respective team being affiliated with, per say, an AFL team. IMO, on paper this move may create a higher dollar value for the team but realistically its taking away more from the fans that it would give back to the franchise as a whole.I pray this doesnt become a reality thruout the whole league........

However, I like what the Mudcats are considering to do. That bit about the farm team though just seems pointless to me. We dont need one! No one needs one except mabey baseball teams!

I didn't know this league was bringing in enough money to bring the need for a farm team

We are not getting a farm team, we would be the farm team. I do not like the idea of loosing players during the season, but doesn't that happen anyway, due to poor performance and injury. I think a higher level affiliation would be great since it can bring a level of talent in that would be consistent, and would be a great opportunity for players to advance.
