From the Titans website: First Round Playoff Game will be Friday June 8th at the Leon County Civic Center at 7pm. Advanced tickets are on sale at the Titans office. The General public sale through ticket master starts Friday May 25th.
This sounded strange to me at first. The Titans, who are tied with the Mississippi Mudcats for 2nd in the South but trail in the tie-breaker, will be hosting a 1st-Round Playoff game. This is because, reportedly, the Mudcats requested to play their Playoff game (a home game) in a different arena due to some problems with their home arena. The league responded by saying that if the Mudcats were unable to host the Playoffs in their own arena, then they would forfeit the rights to host the Playoff game. And so the Tallahassee Titans and the Lakeland Thunderbolts, both Florida-based teams, will be hosting the 1st Round Playoff Games for the AIFA's South Division.
This ruling by the AIFA will be a HUGE help to the Titans organization. The money (and publicity) that the Titans bring in with a 1st Round HOME Playoff Game will help even more in keeping the Titans organization in Tallahassee for years to come.
:smileytitans: GO TITANS! :smileytitans:

hate to break it to you but the game is scheduled to play in tupelo on june 10th with promotions already under way. One, it is being advertised on the Titans website and, from what I've been told through the organization, the Titans will host a 1st Round Playoff Game on June 8th. Second, if there IS no ruling regarding the 1st Round Playoff Game that will be between the Mudcats and Titans, then there can be NO guarantee that Mississippi will host the game. A loss this week for the Mudcats, and it won't matter on whether or not there was a ruling made or not. Either way, do you have a source that KNOWS that the Playoff game will be in Tupelo? I am just interested to know if you are going off of what you've heard and figured for yourself or if your information comes from the Mudcat organization. My source comes from the Titans organization itself, so if yours comes from within the Mudcats organization, then obviously one organization is going to be VERY disappointed in a week or so.

my source is the team owner who announced at the last home game that the 1st round playoff game would be played here in tupelo on june 10th there was an article in the local paper about how tally has jumped the gun by announcing a home playoff game when it looks like they will be 3rd seed and will have to play here. there is already ticket promotions going here.

i just went to the titans web site and from what i saw i dont think i would believe much that is on there. the first heading says that the titans have secured 2nd place and everyone knows that that is nothing but a lie all the cats have to do is beat erie and we have 2nd place and the titans have third and since the titans only other game is against baltimore it doesnt count in the standings so it means nothing except it gives you a chance for a player to get hurt before the playoffs playing a meaningless game.

Mississippi beat Erie so We have to play in Tupelo. They have beat us twice by a total of 9 points so this should be another great game. Hopefully third times a charm for the Titans.

now the titans are backpedaling on their website saying the league has just changed the rules and will kick them to 3rd seed. uhh were the original rules saying that if you finished 3rd you would be seeded 2nd? whoever does this website evidently doesn't have a clue as to what is going on because he went on to say that tally could be seeded 2nd if lakeland loses next weekend since it will drop the tbolts to 3rd seed. uhhh nope lakeland has locked in the 1st seed it doesn't matter if they get their butts whooped next week there is still no way that tally can have a 2nd seed home game.

6/8-9/2007 - AIFA Wild Card Weekend Seed #2 vs. #3 . This was the opening round schedule copied from the AIFA website. The rule change might have been to allow Mississippi to host the game on 6-10-07. It is a mute point but it might explain the information on the Titans website. I too don't agree that a Lakeland loss to the Bears would make a difference in standings.

I'm sorry that my post came up multiple times....I didn't even realize it and I only remember posting it once (though my internet has been acting weird lately...maybe I accidentally hit "Post Reply" one too many times). I deleted the extras.
Anyway, the reason that the Titans would have actually BEEN in 2nd is because that's just how it would've looked. The Titans, had the league not allowed the Mudcats to host on the 10th, would have hosted a Playoff game and, therefore, been the "2 seed". By "clinch 2nd", that's all that they meant. It's simpler than a headline saying "Titans Will Host Playoff Game Because Mississippi Couldn't Get Their Arena For The Game As The 2nd Seed So The Titans Will Host Instead Even if They Are the Lower Seed." Though a simple "Titans Clinch Home Playoff Game" would've done just as well too....lol
Either way, I'm looking forward to the Mudcats/Titans game. This time, Patrick Harrington will be healthy for the game and (hopefully) the Titans will beat the Mudcats when it REALLY counts!
Also, the T-Bolts COULD fall the 3rd IF and ONLY IF all games (vs BAL and vs GC) count towards the standings and Lakeland loses it's game against the Bears (would fall to 10-3, Titans/Mudcats have played 14 games after Monday's Titans game).

dk if the original rule was that #2 hosted #3 it has not changed any because the #2 is the cats and the #3 is the titans so there have been no rule changes other than early in the season when they said the gulf coast games and baltimore games dont count in the standings. so there is no way even if lakeland gets beat that the standings will change they are now locked in whith the #1 seed being the thunderbutts #2 mudcats #3 titans and #4 speed. i cant figure out all the confusion by the person who runs your website and especially the one who would go ahead and start selling tickets thru ticketmaster!

Where does it say that games against Baltimore do not count? I can not find it. After speaking to the league office, I was informed that all of Baltimores games count. Don't get me wrong, with only one win under their belt this season, I kinda wish the don't cont... but still, it is news to me.
