Eat n greet is a great idea. Or bowling or something the whole family can do.
You can charge for these events outside of the regular membership fees and kickback some money to players.
How about a kids clinic or indoor football 101 (for women)? If the fan clubs can't do these things, teams should.
Scooter, you need a web site. Then you can sell memberships 24/7, 365 days a year. Some introverts might be more willing to sign up online instead of face to face.

Got to agree with slocoma on this one (look outside for the end of the world ). Myspace is nice and stuff but most people look for an actual web site (expressfans is a nice site). The off season is a very good time to get a site up and running (should be done early though, not couple weeks before the season). I could offer some help on this in the summer time if needed, finding a server to host it on will be the hardest part.

DreamHost.com is $9.95 per month and $9.95 for the domain registration (yearly). I'm sure there are cheaper ones out there but that gives you an idea on the cost. Or find a local company that will donate the server space. You guys are non-profit, right?
