The lack of revenue would hurt the first-year team, which needs the money to pay players, coaches, front office staff and past bills - but financial help is on the way. The Titans have started a booster club, and Sullivan said four $1,000 members have signed on.
And I thought our $15.00 membership was reasonable.

I have a hard enough time selling ours for $8. ;D They are truly pioneers.........

This discussion has raged on the shores of, well, Meyer's Lake for the last several weeks now.
Booster club, fan club. Same thing, different name.
I suggest that teams work with their fan clubs and include a fan club membership with all season ticket packages.
1) another perk to fill the seats and sell tickets 2) fan club can market to additional persons 3) season ticket holders are more likely to have the dollars to go on road trips, etc. 4) it's a win-win for both the team and the fan club.
Seriously, if we were the NFL, a couple thousand members would not be difficult. But they draw 70,000 a game and many more watch on TV.
We draw maybe 3,000 on a good night so 150 is like 5%. That's not bad, but I think unattainable without the team's assistance.
BTW: anyone that wants to spend $1,000 on a fan/booster club membership is a sponsor, not a fan.

Can you be more specific about the "needs" you mentioned? Hard to take care of those if we don't know what they are. Thanks.

maybe the difference is the word "booster" vs. fan club...i love what our fan club does , but i would love to have some boosters to help with some player needs during the season Thats what i am trying to get accomplished however i am not getting any real interest. I have told several people all the things that i'd like for the club to do and they get turned off by it thinking that its alot of work. I posted on the club site that i need board members and of the 5 people who emailed me with interest when it came time to meet they disappeared and were never heard from again. Last season, when we were providing snacks for road games i wanted to do alot more. I am always available to give any players rides (especially the out of town players) to anywhere they may need to go and anything else. The problem is that i havent had a chance to get around to all of them to let them know that i am available for those things. I just got my business cards in last week so i'll be sure to hand those out and tell them that if they ever need anything than all they have to do is call........ This actually was one of the topics that i wanted to discuss with both you and Ted about in the near future. Since i cant find any board members who want to contribute and be part of a winning team i was wondering if maybe he had anyone in his organization that would be interested in becoming a board member and sharing ideas so we can get this club running the way it needs to be. Once we get things going then we'll be in good shape.......

It varies but it could be anything from giving players rides, helping them clean their apartments and even just being a friend to them off the field. I am sure Bernie has his ideas on this too and what he knows the players need specifically. The Express Fan Club is designed to do all this stuff unfortunately no fans are stepping up to the plate. If any Expressfans are out there, as i posted on the fan club site, if you want to help you can simply send me an email at expressfans@dejazzd.com

Personally, I am usually available for any of that stuff.
As far as the "fan club" name vs Booster Club, we went with the Fan Club version cause we had felt that naming it the Express Booster Club woulda made us guys sound like a bunch of 40 something soccer moms............ ;D

IMO, booster club makes it sound more like an adult thing and goes with the activities you want to do. Sanjaya has a fan club.

What do fans get when they join the Express Fan Club? Current memberships are only $8 & are good thru December 2008. -a "Property of Expressfans" shirt -membership card -10% off Express merchandise I am also working on a 10% discount at a local health club as well as other sponsors such as local restraunts.

And that costs $8? I'm sure you don't care about my opinion, but here goes. For your reference, I've never been part of a fan club. To me, I would be paying $8 for a t-shirt. It would be unlikely that I would use any of the 10% discounts. What would interest me and something I would pay for would be: - discounts on game tickets or specially priced fan club section - fan club only events: locker room tour, meeting players before the game or like a bowling event or banquet - a chance to buy game used equipment not available to the general public (jerseys, helmets, footballs) What I'm getting at is I want to get something that no one else can get. Obvisouly, this would take a lot of coordination either with players (to get them to do things on their own time) or with the team. Maybe I'm missing the whole point of the fan club. I think if you can offer some exclusive events you can raise the price dramatically. There is a reason people pay for club seats in the NFL. It's not because they are better seats, it's because of the prestige.
