jeff is absolutly dead on...every team does have different arena arrangements and without your local business community it's a tough run

Don't you think this letter from Mr. Morris is like shooting yourself in the foot though?

Don't you think this letter from Mr. Morris is like shooting yourself in the foot though? IMO, no. Its good that he opened up and shed some light on things. Yea, maybe most teams would keep silent but all he is doing is explaining some things & asking for help. Now, had this been a problem with an individual or business, then yea, it would be best to keep it silent.

i'm just a gm and a coach...but i admire his upfront and honest approach, but i know what we went thru here in reading was keep unpublic...i don't think my new owners would go public either, but thats just speculation ...what i do know about tallahassee, being a team from the north that traveled there and played them....they run a first class operation..we stayed in a great hotel, their pre-game meal was awsome...the arena is awsome..misty and the staff there could not have been any more helpful, they were fantastic..their interns were great..with the exception of losing the game...it was one of the best trips i have had in two seasons..i only wish the best for the organization and i hope they are with us for the long haul

Now, had this been a problem with an individual or business, then yea, it would be best to keep it silent. I understand asking for help, it's just some of the details, like "cash flow crunch", that I would left out. It really makes him (not so much the team, but Morris as a business owner) look as someone you would NOT want to do business with. If I was a sponsor, I'd be worried and be looking for a way out if I still had money due to them. If I was a potential sponsor, there's no way I would put money in to a team that sounds like it's about to fold and has been mis-managed.

As a fan I appreciate the honesty, but if I were and invsetor, I would have concerns about management practices. It seems he just got in over his head with up-front expenses. I can imagine a custom field with logos is a major expense. The cash return is over the course of the season, so you have to have enough capital to make it through to the end. Sound like he got some bad advice up front by so called experts. You can listen to people that have done it before, but you also have to let common business sense govern in relation to what you can afford to do. All of this should have been worked out in the business plan before the season. I hope they make it all the way through.

Titans!, I am a diehard Mudcat fan from Tupelo but we need your team to survive and start a rivalry with the Mudcats like Ole Miss vs Miss State or the Gators vs the Noles. People in Fla. Know and love good football so best of luck with your team, except when your playing our MUDCATS!

Those of us original AIFL fans have been asking for three years for league officials, owners, GM's, etc. to come on the boards and answer questions honestly.
I find it extremely refreshing that an owner would care enough about his teams fans to say what he said. Notice there have been no rumors and conjecture about Tallahassee. It's all in the open.
How about that for a change?
