After leading for 59 and a half minutes, the Phantoms suffered their toughest defeat in franchise memory tonight. The Heroes got lucky late with a deep ball that set them up 1st and goal inside a minute. They scored, making it 43 - 40, but left 20 seconds on the clock. After a deep pass play of their own, the Phantoms had 7 seconds and goal to go. But the first pass fell incomplete, and the last attempt was a sack and fumble.
Oh so close, but no cigar. The refs unfortunately played into the outcome of this one, repeatedly throwing then picking up flags. At the end of the half, I thought I was at a hockey game with all the fighting. Both teams looked good and attendance was again up around 3000. I like where this team is headed.

Maybe the Phantom coaching staff should have sent out the field goal unit with only 7 seconds left instead of going for the win.

I watched the Game on aifatv no way their was 3000 or 2000 for that matter they paned the arena you were lucky if their was 1000 people their. Can you say choke? that's what the Sheets did they choked and blew what should have been a win Their were lots of flags and at one time seemed like 1-2 minutes strait with flags

I am going by what they announced. They probably went by ticket sales for the game. Either that of they included bothe teams rosters, cheerleaders, concessions attendants and security in their count
I know the parking lot was pretty full. They had a tailgate party before the game. Maybe when you saw them pan the crowd half the fans were out in the parking lot getting boozed up

Choked huh? I tend to agree with that. They failed to put the game out of reach on 3 different occasions. I spoke with most of the players after the game while getting my son's ball autographed, and they seemed like they aren't going to let this keep them down, with the exception of K Colby Wright...He had multiple kicks blocked and will need to get over it.
The flags you speak of came on a goal line stand that lasted 7 plays. The same ref called illegal defense on Florence 3 plays in a row. It was a barfight towards the end of the 2nd with multiple offsetting personal fouls.

I've been watching the film of the game for the last couple days, yes there were a few mistakes made, but choke I don't think so. Like the last minute play that put the Heros in the lead...should never have been caught, we had good coverage on him, 9 out of 10 times it wouldn't have been caught...this was the 1 time it was.
And the Civic Centers drop count was just short a 3000 I believe.
I am glad to see there are people out there getting behind our team....let get more people at the next game....LET'S PACK THE HOUSE!!!
THE PHANTOMS ROCK!

Thanks....I like what I've seen so far. I'm kinda new to the arena football game, this is my second season, I'm not much of a sports fan, but I love arena football!

Welcome phan. I need more backup in this forum. Those Northern guys don't think we get into football down here. Go Phantoms!

I don't like the "Heroes got lucky late with a deep ball..." line at all. So they were behind all game, they came back. Don't ever lose and call the other team lucky because they beat you. From reading the writeup of the game in the paper, it appears the Heroes got "lucky" on several occasions to get close and put themselves in position to score.
Sounds like a quality team put it together late, or maybe Florence did choke a bit; but don't ever call a team lucky, that's bad form...

Get off my back Tatonka...It was a lucky catch that put the Heroes in position to make a touchdown. They did still have to score, I'll give ya that. Quit blasting all my posts. Teams get lucky all the time...it's called lucky breaks...ever hear of them???

You don't call a team "lucky" when they beat you, it's like bad sportsmanship.
And what other posts of yours have I blasted? Remind me, because I'm an equal opportunity critic... I'm not going after anyone. If I disagree with your post, then I'll disagree... the same goes for anyone on here, for any of our posts. Plenty of people disagree with me sometimes... that's what we're here for, to discuss our opinions.
Don't be so thin-skinned.
