Demolition #3 Let me Thank You as a man for being a stand up guy that is willing to tell it like it is. When you talk about a new owner being the radio station guy are you talking the station owner of Krock, Wdan and WDNL??? major sponsor of the team? If so this would be great seeing as how he is local and has tons of people who will support him. As far as the wal mart meet and greet that is great but again wasnt advertised properly so how do people know about it unless they stumble on it? If you have approached management about players efforts and lack of commitment and they will not make a change then that proves my thought that they are trying to make a quick buck and dont care about Danville or the people here. That is an issue with management not with the individual players like yourself. The current owners so to say. As far as supporting the team the rest of this season, I will not be at the final game. Will be the only game I miss this season. If ownership changes then I will probably come watch next year but for me to supply even $10 to the 2 current owners would simply be against my better judgement. If I could make a final recomendation to you for the last month of this season is try to turn the negative view of the team due to the ownership into a good future outlook. This will win people and keep them for next year.(How exactly to do this on your own with people still thinking current owners will be in charge next year is another story and I dont know how off the top of my head to achieve this goal.) Thanks Again for being a stand up guy on this site and good luck to finish the season

WOW! This has been an intersting thread. First off I would like to say if I remember right a rat is the first thing to jump a sinking ship. Interestedobserver don't come to the last game because the fans, the team and the community don't need you and your negativeness at the game. To make up for you not being there I personally will buy the $25 seats for myself and anyone I bring with me. Second where do you come off judging the quality of my dedication to the team as a fan. I don't have a personal connection to any player or staff member of the team yet I go to every home game I am able to attend, except those that fall on a shift day, during a road trip from hell or bingo night, LOL. I plan on traveling to 1-2 away games next year, so long as I can afford it. I also cheer the team on when they are down 30+ points or when the arena is so empty you can hear your cheers echo back across from the other side because that is what a fan does. For me they don't have to win, though it would be nice, for me to look forward to the next game. The true fans will be there when the rest jump ship. The team is new and the team does have areas to be worked on, but that is part of a having a new team they are not perfect. I have seen the improvements in the team and they will only get better each time. The great thing about being at the bottom is the only place to go is up.

Great thread and fascinating reading.
This reminds me very much of the first year Legends. No promotion, no marketing, no nothing. Although the first year AIFL had Richmond and Erie who were good. Canton, Raleigh and Johnstown were mediocre and the Ghostriders were, well 0 for the season.
So Canton won a few more games, but generally not real exciting and we went into the off season wondering if they would be back.
Hang in there and remember that even a negative fan is just looking to make it better.

Wow, I should have seen that coming from a mile away, Someone who takes things way to personally. Bigdawg, Please understand that when I made the following comment "You ask am i a true fan or just someone that goes to games, Well here is how I see this scenario after just 9 games it is hard for anyone that doesnt know anyone directly affiliated with the demolition or the guy that won the name the team competition to call themselves true Demolition fans. True fans are not formed over night they take years to gain. It is like me saying oh i have been a bears fan forever so i am a die hard bears fan but now I am a die hard colts fan to because they had a great year last year. It just isnt an over night decision for true fans." This is my opinion, That is why there are message forums for all of us to express opinions. Now I didnt put that this is my opinion in the statement so maybe I need to spell things out a little better. Your Response "Second where do you come off judging the quality of my dedication to the team as a fan. I don't have a personal connection to any player or staff member of the team yet I go to every home game I am able to attend, except those that fall on a shift day, during a road trip from hell or bingo night, LOL." is so far off the page I dont know how to reply. Please point out where I have personally atacked anyone as far as fans go for supporting the demolition. As far as you buying the $25 dollar ticket for everyone you bring good luck there is no $25 dollar ticket anymore. They are all either $15 or $10. I did like your rat comment but I am far to good looking to be a rat I was thinking more of a mouse. Mice are better looking then rats.
The man the myth: Did Canton try to make changes in their first season to improve themselfs? They werent quite as bad as danville currently is but they still had room for improvement. This is where my questions and concerns are is the fact that as a spectator i see no effort to improve outside of the QB they brought into danville.
Bigdawg: you said "The team is new and the team does have areas to be worked on, but that is part of a having a new team they are not perfect. I have seen the improvements in the team and they will only get better each time. The great thing about being at the bottom is the only place to go is up." Why does this have to be part of having a new team? I have not seen substantial improvement in any aspect of the Demolition this season. But maybe I am looking at the wrong things please explain the improvements i have overlooked that you see.
I have respect for the players that do go out and give 100% like #3 who posts on this board as well. Read his posts you will see that all is not roses in the demolition organization. It takes a real man as an athlete to come on a forum and reply and converse with people. The other players that give 100% and more have my respect as well. The players that dont appear to be giving 100% the whole game no matter the score or scenario are the guys who will tear a team apart. The fans that support the team by all meens go ahead. I fear that as a danville resident that watched the Wings hockey team pull up stakes and certain people in that management group bad mouth danville and its hockey fans for not supporting them, I fear the same thing looks to be building as attendance appears to be getting smaller for each game at Danville. The management from my experience has no idea how to market the team, As more time goes on and they dont promote the team I wonder if they even have the funds to do so. This is not knocking the fans or the players this is an ownership issue.
So again let me appologize if you have read something and taken it personally. The things I say are my opinion and I have tried to and will continue to refrain from getting into little H.S. name calling battles. To #3 I have the utmost respect for you as a man for you coming on this board to talk to everyone. The Man The Myth: Thanks for your insight, Bigdawg: go support the demolition. I will not because I would like to see some effort to give back to the danville community or an effort to improve the teams appearance first. The MDA thing the Demolition are doing is great but there is so much more they could do.

I apologize if I took it personally but like you I have seen far to many positive things go unnoticed and end up leaving ie The Wings and don't want the same result with the Demolition. I agree with you as far as the management issues. I have said this from day 1 that it is being marketed half a$$ed at best. I guess in the end we all have different ways of trying to make a difference. Some choose to voice strong opinions and others choose strong team support.

With Canton it took a new owner coming in and taking over to get things better, even though we won the champinship last year there were thing that could of been better. This year something have gotten better I think it like with a player the more experiance you get the better thing become. What you hope for is improvement each year not only in wins and losses but how the team handles itself with the community and fans

Well, as a RiverRats fan who made the trip out to Danville several weeks ago, here's my thoughts. The city of Danville reminded me a lot of Steubenville. The arena was in a populated area (jabs at Pittsburgh and Steubenville), the venue was very nice, the fans were in to it that game (was also the night of the Illinois-Indiana Big Ten Tournament game). I really was impressed for who many fans that they got despite the issues with the marketing/promotion. I hope they stick around until next year. I agree that being in a league with other teams close by works better, but there's not much of a step up for you. UIF is too expensive, and the CIFL has a lot of issues going on that makes the AIFA look halfway decent Go out there and support the team, and be their marketing if they don't have any. Good luck, hope you're around next season, Sykotyk

I hate to beat a dead horse here but it does not look good for the Demolition. If you need a reference look at the post under week 14 in weekly picks i think it is.
1-Players not getting paid 2-Coaches not getting paid 3-Another team supplying a bus 4-Players not knowing a departure time or if they are going to go to an away game less then 24 hours before game time 5- Refs checks bouncing 6- 4 hours late to a game and it ends up not being a bus problem after all 7- Replacement players 8- players saying there is trouble and problems
If they are going to fold just do it now, let the players go to teams who will pay them and give them a chance to further their career. Not a sinking ship that this "Rat" as I was called before is jumping off of. There are some things in life that are not ment to be, Currently I dont think that the Demolition are ment to be under the current ownership or lack of I should say. If they can get new owners and front office that actually care about Danville and making this team work not just making a quick buck then they have unlimited potential but until then I will be swimming not riding that ship.

This is where my questions and concerns are is the fact that as a spectator i see no effort to improve outside of the QB they brought into danville. Truthfully? No. They started out like gang busters ... concourse was full before games, lot's of excitement. Finished with empty concourses and in some cases the concessions didn't even open. People not getting paid, lawsuits filed, etc. Like Picman said, it took a new owner and a new commitment to make it better. Right now they are on the verge of making it work very well after patching all those relationships destroyed in year one.
